Going camping soon, taking the BK2, what should I do w/it?

My first outing with a bk2 had me using her to make 4 tent poles out of deadfall branches, which went really well! I showed my daughters how to use the fire steel that is mounted on my sheath. I also used her to baton some pre-split firewood down to more useable size for fire starting. My wife who usually rolls her eyes at what she calls " man toys" even commented that the big knife seemed to get used for a lot of stuff and it was a cool item to have in our camping gear.

very cool! I have the two boys, 5 and 9, and want to show them how to be responsible w/tools, especially sharp ones. In another thread, I was asking advice on a first knife for my 9 year old. Picked up a Buck 110 that I thought I was going to give him, but I'm having 2nd thoughts. Teaching him how to carefully use a knife is important. I know the 5 year old is going to have a fit, but what can I do? I'll have to find something to give him this trip too.

Yer camping - close enough to the woods to be wearing the appropriate fashion. Strap that thing to you leg and walk around knowing you've got the best kit in the hood. Your biggest problem is going to be finding enough cutting chores!

I know what you can do with it, use it to open the box that contains your new BK9 :D
Now you're talking! What you also need is a BK11 or a BK24 in your pocket to take care of the small stuff.

Just returned from my trip. Didn't do a whole lot w/it as the campsite wasn't reeling w/fallen wood. I'll post some pix up in a day or two. Some should be quite humorous.

give the 9yr old a becker and the 5yr old his own ferro rod (to use only when hes with you) or a compass-he.could be.in charge of."navigating" down the trail-never to young to learn orienteering

Here are some pix for you to enjoy laughing at:

I tried the chicken stick, but found that I need to sharpen my blade. I chopped some wood, cut that dastardly grape vine, and did chop off some thin branches of a fallen thicker branch.

Not too many pix, but some.
