I'm going on a cruise and found out that no knives are allowed onboard. Unbelievable....hope we don't end up on a deserted island or something. Not to mention visiting the diferent islands. Being without a knife sucks.

This is true. I had a Kershaw Leek confiscated while boarding. They gave me a claim ticket and I had to go get it back after departing from the ship.

Dems da rules...
Funny though...their wait staff will undoubtedly set every place setting with a "steak" knife of some sort...I guess you could slip one up your sleeve and rest at ease knowing you had a "knife"...funny to think that every person on board will literally have a deadly weapon given to them at each meal...wonder what they are hoping for???

Have fun

Maybe they are thinking that everyone will turn into zombies after not liking the escargot, need something to protect yourself with or dine with if you are a zombie.

What about a cruise to Alaska? Just imagine you leave the ship and then there are 5 hungry bears just waiting to eat you.

You could just use it as an excuse to buy a new blade in every port.

:-p

I haven't had any issues bringing a SAK Climber with me on cruises. I just leave it in my checked luggage till I'm on board, drop it in a pocket and be extra discreet with it. Put it in a backpack when you get on and off as there will be a security checkpoint both way, and I haven't had any trouble. And SAKs are cheap enough I 'm not gonna be pissed if I lose it on some island.

I agree.

Dont go on the cruise. Just me but, i fail to see the point in a cruise.

Especially these days now that they made them cheap....

Kinda like being on a plane in coach surrounded by tons of people one wouldn't want to be around for long periods of time... Kinda like being in Wal-Mart around XMAS time....

No thanks...... I will pass....

I went on an Alaska cruise last year. It was 7 days I will never get back. I will never go on another one.

Been on a dozen cruises only xray your bag n you thru metal detector. Take a cruise any day, rogue waves in all

It depends on what cruise line you are taking and what knife you attempt to bring.

It's easy to make sweeping generalizations, but the truth is, if you are comparing a bad cruise experience to a discount store, it sounds like you selected the wrong one for your taste. Imagine if people did the same for knives based on a Jarbenza experience...(all knives are garbage, blah blah blah!)

If the cruise line you are using says no knife, no way, no how, chances are they mean it. I would still slip a small unassuming folder in my pocket and hope for the best. They may tag it and lock it up for me, but last time I went, no one said a word. That said, if anyone would have asked, I would have been totally honest.

It really came in handy for sharpening pencils and cutting off tags from items we purchased.

Swiss army, handy and not expensive if they take it. But obey the rules, not worth the hassle, if they are strictly enforcing it.
