Once onboard I wouldn't turn it in, I don't see how any good could come from that. A while back a tsa agent took my keychain sak, but let my wife keep a 3" bladed scissors, and nit the rounded top kind... Go figure
I...won't go to any of the states that don't recognize my right to carry a gun. That includes most of the New England states, NY, Maryland, NJ, D.C. and of course "Komifornia". Just my .02.
It is a good idea to double-check baggage, because when a friend who was a Benchmade rep was getting on a plane after Blade one year, he was nearly arrested because of a large fixed blade he forgot in his carry-on. But as always, if you make a mistake, your mileage may vary. I also know someone who inadvertently boarded with an unloaded Glock--that's right, the whole pistol. Another friend from CA accidentally flew with a knife when going home once, and after that, he did it the same way every time; it never was confiscated. Then I was going through security once to board a cruise ship and declared a 3.25" serrated automatic that was clipped to my pocket under my carry-on slung over my shoulder. I was prepared to lose it, as I was reading a sign that said no blades over 2", no serrated, and no switchblades; they handed it back to me. Then they discovered in my wife's carry-on a 380 magazine with 6 rounds of hollow point. Made us check it at the local police and said it was up to the captain as to whether we got on. We did.
As a PSA if you are driving down for Blade. Traffic fatalities are up something like 25% this year in Georgia. Police have been out heavy recently as well .Don't DUI or anything foolish and realize that a huge percentage of the drivers in Atlanta are not from Atlanta and drive rather aggressively. Trust me, I get to enjoy it every day.
