Hey guys
I just sent my app. and tuition to Texarkana Community Collage for the intro
to blade smithing class in Dec. Instructors are Mr. Fisk and Mr. Cook. I am
very EXCITED!!! :D:D:D

Jerry and Cookie are a hoot, besides being great teachers. You'll have a great time, and learn loads at the school. I sure did!

Congrats, and have fun,

John

Awesome opportunity. Im jealous!

Congrats! I want to go this year sometime for the class. I just need to get some cashola together. Whicj is not an easy thing to do for me right now.:grumpy:

I've been thinking casually about going for this as well. For the two week long class, what (if anything) happens on the weekend days in the middle? Also, do you know if all of the different classes stand alone, or if there are prerequisites or required order of taking them? (For example, do you have to take the Intro class before taking Handles and Guards?)

P J 234,

Weekend is usually free, there's fishing and camping nearby, but somewhere there'll be visits to someone's shop, prob Jerry's or Cookie's, and a Thurs nite trip to Uncle Al's mini-hammer-in if the time falls right.

Lunch each day is at the State Park's old -timey Inn, (the school is at Old Washington, a restored historical town and Arkansas State Park), where you'll get to know your classmates better.

The Intro isn't a formal prereq forHandles and Guards, I don't think, but you have to bring a certain number of finished blades of different types to the H & G class. Contact Scotty Hayes at Texarkana College, thru the ABS website info, but you'll need full, partial and hidden tang blades, ready for handles. You'll have these done in the Intro class, if you take it first.

Hi John,

Thanks much for your reply and information. I've had a couple of preliminary email exchanges with Scotty Hayes, but hadn't gotten any of these points covered yet and I couldn't find the info on the ABS website. Appreciate the help!

Hey Cliff.
Come go with me. I'll have my camper there. They told me I could stay on the grounds
so we wont have to rent a room.

Greg
