note - can be a plus sometimes a bud lived in del rio and was in acuna "partying" at a local club (brothel??) and got stopped for DWI in mex, acuna police, he was "fined" $120, lots cheaper than the states lol. they scared the bejeezus outta him too, no charge for that.
would be very careful with OC in mex IIRC only law enforcement is permitted to have it.
regrettably i dont go down much recently, too many kidnappings/etc in nuevo laredo which is where i go, every time i start thinking about going a new gun fight/kidnapping/murder hits the austin papers, most of my buds who live in laredo dont go across the border anymore, too dangerous, certainly dont cross at night/go to boys town. they have a dispute going on between local traffickers ( and the local police) to see who will run the drug trade thru that area. we'll see who will win, probably the cops.
when i did go i never really worried about knives/OC/etc they didnt have a lot of street crime really so i never thought i'd need them, imho if i would have had probs a knife/OC wouldnt be enough to help, an M16 maybe? the last few yrs street crime has been rising on the border though, i dont know about the interior.
