Going to start collecting Kershaws.

Do yourself a solid and check out the picture thread to get an idea of what you do and don't like. Ones to consider along with what was mentioned I would say is definitely the ram, blur, leek, groove, zing, get a cryo too! Nice and cheap and a good segway to finer stuff like zt's! Even a speed bump is cool!

I really like Kershaws too, but I only collect the ones I personally like and enjoy. With that, their are the limited edition blurs just released, and they will be gone soon. A purple and a green blur with cpm154 blades. There is a carbon fiber blur on its way also, Id grab them when they come out.

I plan on only collecting the Kershaws that I like also. Do you know if there is any way that I can stay up to date on the knives that Kershaws putting out? That would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked out the picture thread a little bit, but I just don't know how to identify which knives are which. I've made a list of the knives that I like that everyones recommended and the list consists of the Shallot, Scallion, Chive, Leek, Blur, Ram, Groove, Zing, Speed Bump, and the Cryo. I hope that someday I'll be able to have at least one of all of these knives.

why would anyone make a conscious decisions to start collecting knives?!?

i always thought it was just something that happened one by one until it turned into a full blown, incurable addiction. i promise, your list will grow faster than you can buy them. ask me how i know. :p

That part is easy, just stick around this forum. Lol we talk about everything coming out and usually know pretty quickly on here when someplace gets new items in stock. This is a really great community :)

I'm just excited about the thought of pulling out my collection of knives and admiring them. I already have 10 knives that I'm hoping I'll be able to get in the near future.

I've only been on this forum for a couple of days and the hospitality is AMAZING! I wasn't expecting everyone to be so friendly. I hope that someday I'll be able to pass down my knowledge to new people collecting knives like me.

I have a JYD also. It is a very nice knife for the price. When I started collecting I usaully purchased beastly knives. Now I am starting to prefer smaller more easy to carry knives.

we've all been there! i came in here a year ago saying i was only collecting the 11 orange kershaw models. i now have 10 of them... plus 9 more Kershaws and 5 ZT's. although my wallet my disagree, i have enjoyed every minute of it.

I recently got my first kershaw and its a Volt II non-blem and its a really good knife for the money! I dont use it as much because it is a little smaller in hands thann my other knives but the Volt is a solid little knive. I think i got mines for 25 with shipping so its not expensive at all. Good starter!

Start with the classics! Leek, Blur, Skyline. Once you get converted to the dark side get some ZTs! 0560 is a sure way to go.
^^^^THIS. those three knives is what started my descent into collecting (though i wouldn't consider myself a serious collector). i got those exact three knives in a 2 week period and then purchased a ZT 0560 about two weeks ago. of all the Kershaws i own, the Blur and Skyline are my favs, though i love all of them.

Here is a good place to find new models, half the time I find out from another member saying "Found this one." Other times ThomasW will post something. KershawGuy on the forum is a good source to buy knives from, good prices and very good service.

I wondered this too. I was thinking "He Decided to collect knives?" I sense an implication there that this is a choice. This is a disease and you have found our support group.

Leek, it might be yoru favorite, it might not, but if you like kershaw you can almost guarantee you'll get one eventually anyway. I like it a lot.

Kershaw/ZT is a great place to start! I have 50+ so far. They have such a wonderful variety to select from, at price points from $15 to a few hundred dollars, all with great quality. Might I suggest that you give a bit of priority to picking up discontinued models that you find at a reasonable price; there are several models that I have liked over the years but didn't buy, and now they are selling at a premium, if you can find them at all (that's why I just picked up two ZT 0780's, which I really like). Also, as others have said, try out Kershawguy.com; he has great selection, prices, and service (when I order on a Friday, I get the package on Monday, OR to MI!). Happy collecting! :-)

That does look like a little knife that I'll have to pick up.
