So I'm flying to Sweden for a few weeks, (which will be interesting with my 11 month old daughter) and my wife says I can get a knife for fathers day. We will be near a city called Trädet and about 4 hours away from Stockholm. Any of you know a cool blade shop or something similar I could pick a nice swedish blade at. What are some good Swedish blades to look for? Thanks.

Welcome to Sweden, unfortunately the Town of Trädet has abot 280 inhabitants and zero knifeshops. There is no point to buy anything imported in Sweden since that is expensive. I would recommend to try to get hold of a local bladesmith and get a custom Scandi bushknife. Or go to any hardware store and get some Mora knives.

Bummer, but yeah I would LOVE to get a custom bushcraft, we'll see what I can find.

There's the annual Swedish Knife Week 8-14 of July in the town of Ludvika.
It's hosted by the Swedish Knife Association: Svensk Knivförening.
Here's a link in English to their site.

If You contact these people, I think they can help You find what You want.

In Stockholm City, there are at least 3 stores of interest.
Pasadena in the Old Town has a unique choice of the best Sami makers in Sweden.
Expensive but absolute top quality craftmanship!

Widforss is a hunting store with lots of knives.
Valter Borg is also a hunting store.

Good luck!

Regards
Mikael

Right on thank you! I'm very excited to be visiting your country

Theres also Knivkompaniet i Stockholm. They used to have a working website, but i cant seem to find it anymore. They had many of the big brands, ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. I cannot recall if they had any scandinavian designs. The prices are high though, even by european standards.

Yeah it sounds like everything is more expensive there.

I wonder if Swedish custom knives might be a relative bargain. There are many formidably talented knifemakers over there.

I love their traditional style.
