Going to the beach - wich knife should I take ?

I will be faced with a similar situation in Feb. I figured I would use my serrated large Voyager since it isn't too expensive so no biggy if it gets lost or destroyed. I will be in and around salt water for two weeks, and I want something I can take swimming and snorkeling with me. The serrations will be great for cutting rope. Does anyone have expereince with Voyagers (AUS8A) and salt water?

Gerber Easy Out.
I've taken mine scuba diving. Basically a titanium finished blade with plastic handles, serrations near the back of the blade for cutting line, netting, etc. Easily taken apart and cleaned. Opens easily with 1 hand, locks in place nicely and closes easily one-handed.

How about the Benchmade H20? Like the Spyderco, it's made with H1 steel. It has a combo ege, which is a plus for the water. It is a fixed blade, though, and I'm not sure if you want a fixed for your trip. Have fun (on the trip and choosing the knife for it  )

For a small fixed blade, it would be the CRKT Carson F4 all the way. This is what I wear when I go to the beach, and it is very secure for IWB carry in board shorts.
For a folder, I would just say look for something that's stainless but not too expensive. A Kershaw Vapor comes to mind.

A Talonite blade would be my first choice, either a folder or a small fixed blade. If cost or availability makes Talonite impractical, my next choice would be either the Spyderco Salt or Pacific Salt.

Personally, my knife for that sort of occasion is a tiny Rob Simonich Bitteroot in Talonite that I wear in a neck sheath.

The original question was "wich" knife to take to the beach.Might I suggest a sand wich knife. :D

From what I hear there's a lot of, ahem, ambiguity in Brazil.
Stock man with that neutering blade may come in handy. :D

(And please, thats humour not a prejudice :) )

OK, everyone seems to have missed the biggest use for a tool on the beach. You need something with a bottle opener and corkscrew! Now ask yourself, are you going on vacation to kipper yourself in the ocean, liberate lobsters from traps and fish from fisherman or are you going to go and pickle yourself on the actual sand in the sun? Its an honest question, if your going for an action and adventure packed odessy through the coastal waters of Brazil then those are excellent suggestions... but if your going to lounge around watching hotties, getting sunburnt and sampling the local fermentations then I'd suggest a $5 waiter's knife so your not confounded when the cap doesn't twist off :)

I wouldn't take any folder to the beach becuse you will have a heck of a time getting the sand out of the works. I'd take a small fixed blade with a plastic or kydex sheath (sand will do a number on leather too), one that i didn't care anout scratchin up. The CRKT Carson F4 seems like a good suggestion as the CRKT Polkowski Kasper Companion. Both are relatively inexpensive so you won't mind (too much)messing them up or losing them.
