Going to try my hand at an axe restoration

You sure did a great job bringing your vintage Connecticut back to life. Another vintage axe saved for the future. Treat her right and she'll be around for your grandchildren.

As for the mushroom, I would just smooth it out enough to keep it from getting caught on the wood you are working with. Gives it a little character.

Looks great! Everyone leans a little different on the 'shroom. I hate to take away any of the stamping but do what I can. I hate to see damage to a tool left uncorrected but it is certainly case by case.

Dings on top of eye, under beard and poll from using steel hamer to beat a head on or off. I like one sharp edge on a head, the one in front.
