Hello Bladeforum members,

I posed the following question off of this WebBoard and received a response from a member who appears to know allot about knives please read it and give a response, even have a little fun with it (!)

My question:

If you were going to war which approx four inch lock blade knife would you take with you ??

Response:

This is a very interesting question and one that has not been posed to me in this way.

First, a Chis Reeve Sebenza . The best knife I know of

Second, I think the Applegate full size folder is probably the best combat knife, It was designed for that purpose by an expert and has received a lot of praise through the years. They are well made and sturdy.

Third The Microtech Socom. These are top of the line and would be the least likely to do anything but perform perfectly

Fourth, probably the EDI Genesis

Fifth I would likely take a Cold Steel CS34LTH. These are well made and
lock very solid.

Best regards,

Emerson Raven tanto with black blade. Relatively cheap, very strong tip, easy to sharpen, indestructable handle.

Emerson Commander right BDU pocket...

MicroTech DA SOCOM on right side ITWB...

Hope I don't get called back to active duty to assault Saddam for round two...

First I would take a Microtech D/A SOCOM or the Clip Point version of the Cheyenne.
An auto would be a must for me but if it could not be an auto I would take a M/A Version of the SOCOM.

Of course if the war started next year I would take the Stealth - Black Angel which I designed.

Here are the first images. The actual model will use the same mechanism as the Stealth-Chyenne so it will not have a pivot pin showing.

I designed it using the best characteristics of the most favorite knives I have owned.

My personal carry would be:

Gerber Covert in my flight suit left leg "shroud cutter pocket", STIFF KISS clipped to right boot and SOG Sealpup in my flight bag which sits next to my crew seat.

By the way, this is my normal carry anyway.

Dale H

The SOCOM (D/A or M/A). Best I've seen so far.

My God, Mike, what is that? A clip point/tanto hybrid? How much are they, and when will they be ready? And, oh yeah- it that sharpened on both edges?

If I were going to war I would take a Socom auto, a Sebenza, and maby even a Rekat pocket warrior.
