I have seen a number f makers etch their name/logo in gold on blade and I assume they do it through some from of electrolysis. How would you get the gold down in a deeply etched or stamped logo/name? I would llike to try this method when i start making damascus.

Joe I thing I have done is etch my name then back fill with Bonanza Gold. it is for filling in engraving etc. i got it from Jantz and also believe it is available through Brownell.

There's a product called Rub-n-Buff that comes in gold and many others. Art and Craft suppliers have it. If the engraving is deep enough it wont get rubbed off. Of course you can also do it with real gold with one of those plating pens. I haven't tried it ,but have a friend who has and it turns out nice.

Joe, I believe gold lettering can really add when done correctly.
Steve Dunn does quite a bit of it on specific knives.

I garee, Kevin. I think that it works very well on damascus blades where the pattern and the etching can "wash out" the stamp.
