Gold Membership..... Mistake.

Well I made a mistake and bought a gold membership. Why a mistake? Because the one knife I was buying it to sell got sent out for a regrind through a member here. Now I think it will be what I had hoped from the beginning, and I won't be selling it.

I guess I need to do more trading so I make use of this membership, which will cost me a lot more in knives than if I had just kept the knife in the drawer. Thanks for the "help" guys! LOL

Seriously, I am very happy with the regrind and all the help here.

EDIT: I should have said thanks for enabling my addiction.

No mistake at all. The Gold membership is peanuts for having the pleasure to sell, buy, make friends amongst a million other reasons. Glad to have Ya!

Well,....hate to have to say it.....but if you just wanted a gold membership to buy and then gouge another buyer, ...... then yes you did waste your money. :)

I just hate seeing limited knives being bought with never the intent to keep, just to make money. Hey business is business......

Being able to sell is one benefit awarded to those that have gold or higher memberships. Hopefully it is not seen as the sole purpose of a membership. You are helping to support the forum as a whole.
However if you see it as only to sell, I wouldn't point it out.
Just my opinion

Gold has it's privileges. :) Just think of all the great people you'll get to meet, all the secret societies you can join, maybe you can become one of the chosen ones, get in with the in crowd. :)

All kidding aside if you've been a member for 4 1/2 years and have as many posts as you have already I'm sure you got more than $30 worth of entertainment from the site, not to mention any help you may have gotten. You may find you like the extras a gold membership allows and before you know it you'll feel naked without the gold member tag under your avatar.

Paid memberships help keep this forum active and able to function like it does, no shame in buying a membership and not using it to sell knives.

The forum's worth more than $30/year to me, I would hope it is to you as well.

the thread was tongue in cheek. I am not going to gouge any buyer, because once I own a knife, I have a really hard time parting with one. Besides, I use all of mine, and no one wants used knives at a price I would sell them for. I have no issue spending the little bit for a membership for all the information I get here.

The knife was a NMSFNO NickDoyck did the regrind, and maybe he can post a picture. For some reason, I am having a devil of a time doing it. that may be because most of my posts are from a phone, and I am a dumbass with computers anyway.

he did a fabulous job with it, and I am looking forward to getting to actually use the knife the way I wanted to in the beginning, as a large, all around camp blade.

Same here jc.......mainly because I only buy knives I really like.......and HATE letting them go!!
The information, the help and most importantly, the relationships I have formed here are MORE than worth the price of admission!!
There are many fantastic people here that will give you the shirt off their back if you needed it.
I have seen, many times, this community pull together to help a brother out.
To support this community is well worth the couple of bucks it costs.

Gold status is never a mistake Redman! There are a bunch of regrinds done by that member that I have seen. He does some really nice work--your NMSFNO must be a real prize!

It is really nice, now I need to find a sheath for it instead of using that crappy TOPS sheath I have.
I need to send another for a regrind that is very similar to the BUSSE. I like what Nick did, so I should just use him, but I have to admit to being tempted to try someone else as a point of curiosity. This one is a custom, and the maker warned me about it. He was right, I was wrong. A great deal of the issue was me being so new to knives and not being able to describe what I was after well enough. I need to get it thinned out better. Unfortunately, He is swamped, and I just need a regrind, not a whole new knife.

I look at Gold Membership as a good way to help support the best knife forum on the internet.
I learn so much from the members here that I consider it paying back for my ongoing knife education.

Thanks for reminding me! I let mine lapse when the new format came around. Just renewed.

Now that you have a gold membership you can upload the pic directly to the site from your phone using the upload file button just below the post reply button. :)

I find this forum to be run extremely well and I have learned so much here that the price of a gold membership is a bargain.

I agree...after being on here as an unpaid member for circa 9 months, I just paid for my gold membership...I LOVE this forum and consider this a small price to pay to help support it...

Cheers/bg

Memberships are never a waste if it helps keep a site going and running and improving. I did the lurking unpaid for along time and have paid up and increasing activity when I have a chance.
