gold nitrite coating on mutitool ?

Does anyone know why SOG applied gold nitrite coating on the mutitool? Is this for aesthetic purpose or practical application? :confused:
 
Its normally a Titanium nitride coating resulting in a gold finish and is done to enhance the longevity of the tools and parts. hope that helps picard :)
