krugerrands are 22k gold.

i believe the alloy content makes them more durable and resistant to scratches/damage. after all, these are coins-- meant to be circulated? i have no idea who would carry a krug to pay for anything, but maybe you can be the first to take it to the grocery store and give it a try!
