It appears to be the original edge and is sharpened on both sides. The edge is very fine, not like your normal thicker edged Buckmasters. This one I an letting go if anyone's interested please email me. (It's now sold) The blade does has a few marks on it that are impossible to photograph and I got it that way. It looks great when looking at it in non direct light but if you have it in direct sunlight and turn the blade at certain angles there's some cloudiness. Since this is the first Buckmaster I have ever owned I am not sure if it was originally like this or not.
