• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

This was a piece commissioned by a member here. It is a traditional Malaysian style chopper with an American spin. The blade is 13.5 inches long of 450 layer pool and eye damascus. The fixtures are cable in a can damascus. The handle is Chakte viga. The OAL is 19". It is now off to Kenny Rowe for a nice scabbard. Hope you enjoy.

Chakte Viga comes from South America and is related to pernumbuco. It is available but it is hard to find the highly figured material. I really like it. It will also continue to get darker until it reaches a red orange color.

That's a really nice golok. I have 7 or 8 Indonesian spring steel ones, and Mr Richard's looks like one of my Javanese goloks, although much prettier of course. :)

Chuck-
The Damascus is impeccable (no surprise tho :D), love the cable furniture, perfectly complements the Pool and Eye. That handle glows!!
Definetly a purpose built blade, no mistaking that from the profile, looks pretty nimble for such a sizeable piece.
Superior craftsmanship Buddy, thanks for sharing

(look for pm)

Thanks all. It was interesting making this. It was the first time I used a real collar and not a spacer. Turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself.
