Golok

The British ones are high carbon Sheffield steel. The BRKT is 1095. Nothing exotic.

Bark River's first one was A2, this second batch is 1095 which I now have:D I too have a Martindale, Sheffield, Valient and now my Bark River.

From Mike Stewart's mouth.

Quote:
The original Run of Goloks are 0170-6.

The New ones are going to be 1095.

We moved away from the A-2 on those.

You will like the performance of the 1095 new ones the way I heat treat them

Mike was considering A2 on the new golok run but went to 1095 due to the excessive cost of such a big chunk of A2. Personally I would have paid the difference.

No BRK&T Goloks were ever made in A2 unless they were a one off prototype.

Yeap, you're right riddleofsteel...I must have recalled the discussion to have them in A2; that would have been great. I must say the 1095 is actually pretty good so far though,

Thank you. I have a notion to get one if I could just think of a good reason :D
