Gone are the days...

Have to wait for the family finances to get better for a return to Blade. resinwife is working again, so, we'll see. I did manage to score one of those skinny Elmax knives.

Hey, I used to own that SHBM. Had to sterilize it with 160-proof Mojo solution after severe pbubsy hazmat contamination.

BTW, I heard that the poor immigrant who came over with nothing but a coffee mug and shoes married that stunning blonde and lived happily ever after.

Not sure about that one—“stunning”, true, but “ever after” can be a very, very long time. I have been missing that huera harlot, though.

Thanks for the memories, Guyon. Nice to see you around.

I only come around once in a while anymore as well, but my main reason for leaving was a transaction in the for sale forum, and a negitive post in gb& u. It was blown out of proportion, and while I didnt like the fact of what happened, all the piling on by people with no dog in the fight soured my to these forums.
Like the old joke, the old Scottsman who was showing a tourist all the stone buildings he built, and said, "but do they call me the stone mason? nooooooo, but f**k one goat"!
I feel that online, with no personal contact, your reputation is all you have.

It may be true that Busse is a benchmark for others and you're not happy with what is going on but maybe you should consider going custom or having your Busse's modded by a pro. Design your dream knife and have it made. Just a thought...

I don't think its limited to the Busse forum...I think there alot of other places where the 'new and exciting' has waned a bit. The sign of the financial times...

BOSS

I have been on the forums since 1999 and things have changed quite a bit. Back then we had well under 1,000 members and I was able to read through the entire content of Bladeforums in under 1 week. Needless to say we are far larger now and with that has come alot of necessary compartmentalization. Unfortunately, that means that more and more like-minded people end up reading and posting on individual threads, making the whole exercise that much more repetitive. On top of that we have seriously increased the level of moderation on the site, which was a necessary thing to do given that during the early days the wild west environment on some threads (e.g. the early Maddog discussions, not to mention the always controversial political forums) bordered on violence; and essential if we are going to encourage members who use the exchange forums kick in to help support the site. But all of this comes at a price, and these forums are far more bland then they have been in the past. The jokes, political debates, confrontations, cross-marketing, and general discussions of old are gone and replaced by a very polite and professional environment. It is still one of the best and most informative sites on the internet, but it no longer gets the blood flowing like it used to, then again I may have just grown old.

we should do more meet and greets :)

Hi old hogs .

For sure! I'd like to make one happen for nj, pa, ny, and whoever wants to make the drive. First four kegs and first hundred pounds of grill meat are on me!

Make one of dem Kegs Rootbeer and I am there :)

Reading this thread brought back SO MANY great memories! Sure, I miss the old days. The jokes you could tell and not be judged for.
But it truly is about the comraderie, then the knives ( which have truly only gotten better over the years IMHO)
Let's not forget Gerald Paul Busse. Geeeenius. Phd.
THE MAN. BOSS HOG. My friend. OUR friend. A lot of the changes around here are because Jerry Jennifer and Dan have become immensely successful. Would you begrudge them that?
Sincerely submitted by a "fanboy" for life.
