RELISTED

~ THIS KNIFE and gear IS NEW AND UNUSED - I am the only owner ~

Did I say it is a nice knife? :) It is really a very comfortable knife in the hand, excellent hollow ground and the handle wrap is exceptionally well done.

NEW and NOT USED - SHARP from maker - I am the only owner!

STEEL - 1/4" thick 5160 stock and heat treated to 58-59RC with a hollow ground blade, 3-3/4" to the choil, nearly 5" to the wrap, and 9" overall length.

• The handle wrap uses 12 feet of MIL-C-5040H Type III 550 cord. I intended to rewrap the handle with leather but the cord wrap is so beautifully done that I felt there was nothing to gain by messing with the maker's excellent work. This is a very comfortable knife in the hand.

I can EPOXY the wrap for you - after you buy the knife  - if that is something you would prefer.

This blade is unused and is sharp as when I bought it. There is a slight kydex scuff as you can see in the photo, but otherwise all is pristine as new from the maker.

Will ship with ballistic nylon sheath with kydex liner, web belt, fire steel and striker and the kydex sheath as shown.

RELISTED delivered all in! (US addresses)

NO TRADES CONSIDERED please.

2ND KNIFE THIS ONE IS SOLD

AND here for your consideration is a mid century NAVAJA.

This is a BIG ONE - 12-5/8" tip to tip, fully open.

HERE IS WHAT I KNOW - from the BF member from whom I purchased this a while back:

"This has been in my family for years. Spanish, I reckon 1940s, with what appears to be a hand forged and polished blade. Unknown maker, unmarked, as is usual with similar knives. Knife is huge, blade is 6" long, over a foot long open. Traditional ratcheting lock works perfectly, brass fixtures. Unknown wood resembles cocobolo or cherry. A few marks on the mirror finish. Blade opens easily and locks up tight. This is a full dress sacatripas style fighter. Unknown maker. Edge will cut paper, but should be resharpened. I believe this is something like L6 sawblade steel, 1/8" thick. Very well made and unusual knife. I haven't seen another like it."

This description is unchanged EXCEPT that I did sharpen a bit better. Still could use some edge refinement.

Here resting on an 11" dia. plate
-

HOW IT WORKS -

The blade will open to full position with one motion from closed BUT if you go slowly it clicks and locks in 3 intermediate (partially opened) positions. In order to close the blade you need pull up on the lock tab (seen on the top in the bolster detail photo below) to full vertical and the blade easily falls closed.

This 70+ year old knife is by no means pristine. Scratches on the blade and wear around the pivot to be expected. Someone has cleaned the blade as there is no patina as you would expect. The wood (not cherry- something more dense) scales are in great shape and pinned tight. Blade lock up is solid.

SOLD SOLD SOLD

Todd Knife, sheaths and fire steel - still available. This is a really fine knife and kit. I'm moving them because I have another style that I prefer and so this one is languishing in my care.

Needs a good home.

Talk to me ;) - PM or email at dustyjunco AT G MAIL DOT COM
