Being as out of the loop as I am in the knife world these days, I am not all that familiar with the current offerings or makers. Maybe someone has something to offer than I didn't know I had to have.
This SnG was purchased new from KnifeArt on 10/27/10 IIRC. I was never used or sharpened, knowing it would likely need to go to the spa for lockbar tuning as I am intolerant of pocket knife imperfections. After 5 1/2 week out, I got it back from Strider yesterday afternoon. I retained the clip during this time so that I could apply a 400 grit satin followed by torch coloring. I can refinish / anodize the clip to your preference. I cleaned the knife and hardware, checked the screw tension, doused everything in G96, dried off and lubed with Mobil-1 20w50 before adjusting the pivot tension to where I like it. The clip was meticulously tweaked to follow the contour of the rounded (as opposed to lego) Ti. scale and allow for even friction across the surface engagement to minimize pocket wear. (Told ya I was particular.) In removing the factory applied pencil lead from the blade tang, the lockbar exhibits the signature Strider stickiness. The blade is solid in all directions and perfectly centered while closed. Seems to have a really, nice, even edge on it so sharpening should be a breeze. It appears as though Strider smoothed the lockbar face to increase surface contact with the blade tang. They also replaced the stop pin.
Here is some possible trade info:
- The only knives that have been able to stick to me are my Hinderer XM18 and large, plain, regular Sebenza.
- I like carbon fiber and titanium.
- Only plain edge, satin or stonewashed blades considered.
- No chisel grinds.
- No liner locks.
- Only looking for custom or semi-production.
- Not a big fan of damascus, ATS34, 154CM, etc.
- No Strider trades considered.
- I could use a Spike's Tactical .22LR conversion for an AR, along with BDM mags. Might also be interested in a dedicated upper.
- I'm not opposed to gun related trades, but I'm not currently looking for anything else in particular except an ACOG which this trade probably won't get me.
- 5.56 / 7.62 NATO
