Gonna post what I want in a custom. Need ideas on where to get it.

Red anodized aluminum handles with carbon fiber inlays. Gold anodized aluminum standoffs. Reverse tanto blade made from S90v . Gold plated thumb studs. I would like the locking mechanism to resemble the axis lock. Full steel liners and brass washers. Blade length 3 inches, handle length 3.5 inches.

Can anyone give suggestions on where to have it made?

I don't think any custom makers are using the Axis-Lock besides besides Sergey Shirogorov. Unless you live in Russia (or nearby) a custom from Sergey isn't happening. Something on the secondary market from Sergey will easily run you $5,000+

Other than that, I think you should look into various makers and find what interests you the most. Typically people don't go from buying their first Benchmade to buying a full-on-custom in a week. Many makers can make something similar, but you should get to know their signature styles before making an impulse decision.

Does it have to use the materials listed? I don't know many custom makers that use aluminum for scales or steel for liners. It might be easier to keep the rest of your specs but with titanium scales. It would also eliminate the need for liners. I know smock knives uses a compression lock, although not an axis lock it might be worth looking into.

Yeah titanium would be great actually. Just didnt think of it.

^^+1^^

I completely agree with Bender. It took me over a year after REALLY getting into this hobby to decide what I wanted in a high end production or custom knife. Be patient, and have fun in the search for what tickles your fancy. You will be much happier with your custom choice then.

But if you are determined. The closest thing to an Axis currently being used by a custom maker would be a Compression lock. Jesse Jarosz is licensed by Spyderco to use one on his Pulsar model.

Ordering a custom knife...made to your specs by a blade-smith...is something that should be reserved for much later.
You don't just state your specs and marry a girl who has them... You date a lot, find out what you like and don't like, try out a few (gently as possible), get repelled by a few others... and then, based on your "research", find one that really tugs on your heart.
I have owned customs, but sold them all. I have found that my tastes are somewhat simpler...I seem to be entirely happy with a "mid-tech" design...which falls between the production and full custom jobs. About like CRK Sebenzas...for example, but with a steel and various other parameters which I'm after.
Keep in mind that MANY folks here are perfectly content, for years and years, with fifty-dollar folders. Money can buy you more expensive knives, but happiness might not follow along.

Pretty much how I view it too. Though there are 1-2 pieces of customs I'll keep.
Rest of the time I'm happy with some better production or mid-tech these days.
In fact I already find them "too good" compared to all my sub $50 workhorses of the last 20 years...

Agreed. I have Ontario RAT 1's and 2's, as well as ESEE Zancudo and Kershaw JunkYardDog v2.2 that are great and very economical...

How about a Mini Grip 556-142? Axis lock, S90V, carbon fiber inlays, gold stand offs, gold thumb studs.

Sounds like you want a Benchmade 940-1 that's been customized. Washers, s90v, reverse tanto, axis lock. Get some custom scales and backspacers and you're basically there.

No it wouldn't be great unless you don't mind changing colors. Titanium can't be anodized red.

As far as all of the other stuff, start doing research on different makers to get a feel for their styles, prices, and what they are capable of and willing to do. You seem to me like a man who just bought a few mid-range production folders and now thinks he's ready to dive head first into customs. Steel liners kinda gives it away, as do the aluminum standoffs. Most custom makers will typically do Ti for both of those components because that's what everybody wants. Back away from the nutnfancy reviews on budget production knives and start checking out something more along the lines of Jim Skelton's reviews. It'll let you start wading into the world of customs without it being too overwhelming. Good luck finding what you want.

In fact, there was a red 940. Get both and Franken it and you're done.
