Recommendation? Good 2 seater for cheap

Ever try the Mount Prospect City police auction in the spring? They auction off old Mount Prospect police cars. They practically give them away!:p:thumbsup:

Not anymore. I live about 25 minutes from there. Thankfully, it's been a long time since I've heard anything about the Illinois Nazi party. They went underground.

You might be able to find a 3rd gen Mercury Capri. IIRC they were available in auto. Really ought to learn manual though. I learned on a manual, my grandfather taught me at age 14 on his 1966 International Scout. If you can drive that, you can drive anything.

Well I tried Autotrader with your given specs...so far...in your price range...it's all :(:poop:.

Also tried Craigslist in my area...BINGO!
2010 Crown Victoria Police Intercepter - $1750 (Baton Rouge)
...and just 188k on the clock!
"...it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks...":thumbsup:

Cop donut and coffee stains too. And, no, it hasn't thrown a rod (yet).

Oh, and when you press the horn, you'll hear: " Our lady of blessed acceleration don't fail me now!"

And oh the fun you'll have when ALL the traffic hits brakes thinking they'll get a ticket for speeding. Just wish the $$$ was the same for the Tahoes.

And if you leave a ball cap on the dashboard, you are NOT impersonating a police office with an unmarked bubble on the dash, you just like baseball.

Haven't been on here for a while. I know price is the biggest barrier for this. The other idea I had recently I'm gonna get some shit for it but here goes. I'm a big Corvette fan and I would consider getting a cheaper option in that category but I don't want to pay massive insurance for something I can use 4 months and put away. I was wondering if there was any mods to make a Corvette a little more winter friendly? 2 that came to mind right away are all terrain tires and a small lift, not talking 4x4 redneck lift, just to give it a little more ground clearance. Any ideas?

I think by the time you spent your $ on a lift, car & tires; you could probably get an AWD car w/ winter tires & probably be a bit safer in the long run. But if you're dead set on a lifted vette...

I DD'ed a Miata for years here in western PA, as well as a RWD IS300 and a RWD 335i (close to 400hp with tune). So a Corvette should be doable, depending on your winters and your ability.

Not sure you'll find a lift of any kind for a Vette, but a good set of snows on dedicated rims work wonders for any car. But plan on spending some money. Good snows aren't cheap, especially if you go with a stock size on any Vette made in the last 20 years. You can possibly go with a smaller rim size, but you'll just need to do some research for fitment (clearing the rotors, getting similar rolling diameter, etc).

Even with good snow tires, if you get heavy snow accumulation, don't count on going anywhere, as the car is just too low. This was always the problem with the Miata - the Blizzacks would get all the traction in the world, but the car just snowplowed and dug itself in. Wasn't a big deal for me, as our winters are cold and icy, but we really only got 2-4" of accumulation at a time. But on hardpack, it went just as well as most idiots in SUV's on all-seasons.

if it's that bad my G37 might not work anyway even with the AWD. this idea came from an article on someone who made an off road Corvette, lifted just enough for ground clearance and swapped with a gm diesel.https://jalopnik.com/a-teenage-kansas-farmer-built-this-diesel-off-road-corv-1837675324 that's kinda what I'm going for. Obviously I don't have the money nor do I want a diesel in it. The one I had seen was an 89 with a 350. I've seen people that get separate wheels and tires and get them mounted and when the nice weather comes around switch out the whole set. Saves money on remounting and alignment.
