Good all around fix blade.

You can't go wrong choosing from the makers that you have listed.

You can also find some nice fixed blades made by top notch knife makers here as well.

Buy an inexpensive Mora now to use while you're researching a more expensive knife. You might find yourself so happy with the Mora that you won't want anything else. My old Mora 760 is my go-to fixed blade.

Now if you just want another knife for whatever reason, we'll all certainly understand that. :) Of course there are many great choices. I think a Bark River Bird and Trout, Northstar, or mini-Northstar might be a good choice for your purposes.

Maybe try a Fallkniven F1 or H1 in VG-10. I have an F2 in VG-10 and it's great for all those tasks except bushcrafting. Well, it's a good widdler and fuzz stick maker. Too light for anything else. Great for fish and game dressing, kitchen duties, etc. Nice blade design and manageable size. Grippy handle too, even in slimy conditions. An A2 Barkie would be next on my list.

I love barkies and own a handful. They are strong knives and they tend to be lookers. I also own ESEE and swamp rat. For the money, I think ESEE beats swamp rat. Now, that's not a put down, swamp rat is great, but I feel like the ESEE blades are slightly better priced with sheaths and just as functional. Toughness is popular around here, but jeez, i just do not beat my knives up so much that super megameteorite toughness matters to me.

if you are looking for something more unique and special, I say bark river. More options and the knives are just a pleasure to look at and use. You pay for it though...if , thicker coated blades with the more tactical or utilitarian look are your bag, ESEE and swamp rat might be the way to go.

I have a couple of barkies that I could part with. PM me if interested. One is a beater and would be right at home inside some fish guts.

No, How is it different from sharpening any other knife?

Just purchase a Work Sharp and you'll be all set for convex...hair popping edges all day for the sharpening "stupid" like myself.

Also...I would recommend a Hairy Carry LE from Swamp Rat if you want a care free woods tool. Terrific ergo's...terrific stainless steel (if that matters to you for "ease of care")...from a terrific company that truly stands behind their product. Check the Busse for sale forum here as I believe there is one up for sale on there.

These days I'm using a lot of Fiddleback Forge knives for my outdoor activities (camping, hiking, canoeing, light bushcraft, some hunting, etc.). They are amazing and so is the company.

Just my 2 pennies.

Since you already named your best options in the IP...I would recommend the Fallkniven F1...it's the best compromise of strength, finesse, and "Stainless" that I've come across. I own and use ESEEs, BRKT, etc; for your needs I would choose the F1 from Fallkniven. The VG-10 will hold an edge while maintaining durability through misuse if one so chooses...

The Hairy Carry LE looks very nice but I can't seem to find one for sale. The Fallkniven F1 is at the top of my list so far. I like the corrosion resistance and the fact that it does not have a coating on the blade like the Swamp Rat Rodent Solution.

For an American made knife that will do everything you ask of it at less than half the price of an F1, I'd go with the Buck Vanguard with the rubber handle.
