I picked up a 583-1 warn Benchmade, axis assisted FIRES HARD....automatic hard. Cost me $107 on ebay.

No offence, buddy, but you should read knife laws before you look for a knife.

There is no size restriction is Canada.

There are basic 2 restrictions: They cannot open via a button attached the the handle, and they cannot be opened via centrifugal force.

Assisted opening is legal.

Order from in-country (warriorsandwonders.com) to avoid potential customs issues.

The Twitch XL is terribly built. I know of several that have fallen apart in use.

The Benchmade "Axis Assisted" is much faster than the "Nitrous Assisted" which is all they have now as of 2010 :(

What blade length are you interested in?

Kershaw probably has the most choices in AO knives. Benchmade also has some good AOs to choose from. The Kershaw Blur or Leek are both a good place to start. Zero Tolerance also has some good choices.

Benchmade 580 Barrage
Benchmade 585 Mini Barrage. I own one and it's very good.

Benchmades are coming from the factory dull though. Every one of the 6 or 7 I've bought recently were varying degrees of dull. My 585 had no edge at all - I could cut myself better with the back of the blade then the "edge". My 930 Kulgera had a very lame edge on it - had to do some reprofiling and sharpening and now it's SO nice! So be prepared to profile a Benchmade properly and sharpen it when you get it.

Kershaw 1660 Leek. These are really nice.

CRKT Lift Off or Lift Off 2. I have a Lift Off 2 and it's very nice.

There are many others available. Check out Warriors and Wonders, Wholesale Knives and Swords and S & R Knives.

Other Canadian suppliers are Cabelas, Workwear Canada and True North Knives

You can do that MoreToasties.

I likle the Kershaw Leek, G-10 S30V steel. :)

But I'm lazy! :p

Nah man I didn't actually need a thread, I'm just surprised.

I see your S30V leek, and raise you a BM assisted Rukus....if he can find one.

W&W might have a few left.

Check out the Benchmade Barrages and Warns. They're probably on the upper end of your budget but well worth it. Their AO mechanism has an awesome kick to it.

Kershaw Blur, Leek, Avalanche (if you can find one), and Cyclone (again, if you can find one).

Kershaw makes some fantastic A/Os right in and under your price range. The Blur comes with all kinds of premium steel options, like S30V, ZDP-189, CPM-154 (although I think the last two are sprint runs), and the Avalanche comes standard with S30V. I personally wouldn't buy SOG... a couple of buddies have SOG Flashes, and they're not very well made for the money (oodles of blade wiggle, etc).

BM Nitrous Stryker!

I own a nitrous stryker and a 583....I'm telling you while the nitrous is good, axis assisted is faster and even better! But that 912 is pretty fast, tactical and light weight, a really solid knife. D2 tool steel with assisted opening for about $100.

Why would you not contact Benchmade about the dull blades? Pack them all in one USPS Priority box and for $5.00 total you can ship them to Benchmade for a Warranty Repair. Tell them that you will not pay for resharpening.

My SS framelock Random Leek is faster than an auto with less trouble. $77

My ZT 301 is a little above budget unless you can get a "blem"
