Hi Guys and Gals,

If you get a chance check out The Good Bad and Ugly site on this forum. There is an interesting thread on there about Mad Dog.

It is not a pretty site for those of you who are MD fans. This is what I love about Blade Forums, lots of good info. People actually say who they are and threads are not closed.

This is one of the things that bothers me about knives that live on hype. Im sure Kevin has his side of the story. Further, Im sure that he has heard about this thread. Yet, he has not responded. If (to date) 19 people have posted complaints about your work. It is imperative that you respond. Perhaps he will.

I bring this up as we just had a huge thread on this forum concerning MD.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Thanks for noting the maddog thread. It's interesting but like all dicussions involving MD -- very much of a mix of personality and products. Still, its good to know the experience of others!

That thread does raise a question (about BUSS). What is INFI steel. Is it a re-worked 01 as mentioned in the MD thread?

As a dealer I can´t think of a better way to discourage people and drive them out of knife collecting/appreciating than to act as these guys do, and as a knife user I have already felt this disapointment on my own so I understand Les acts, stand by him and think that openly criticizing this behavoir is the only thing we honest knife delaers and makers can do to defend ourselves and not to be placed in the same level.
Many of the makers I know will offer a lifetime limited warranty. Does it mean that their knives are crap? No, it means the knives are made to only go so far in performance and the maker is humble and honest enough to admit it. From what I´ve seen and heard, the average knifemaker is very willing to make his customers happy and its warranty and service use to cover much more than what he states, the ones like the knifemaker mentioned here being the exceptions, not the rule.
Keep up the good work, Les, no mather if they call you a troublemaker. You are in the right way and those who count know that.
Best regards

I have never understood the MadDog hype myself, but I've never seen or used one in person before, either. All I know is for a hell of a lot less, I can get a knife worth a fortune from my buddy Madpoet! Anyway, I went to KFC to find Kevin's abusive reply to our main man, CLiff, but I couldn't find the thread. What gives? Anyone make a link to it for me? Thanks!
Steve

Chiro75,

Man. THAT saga continues, expands and infiltrates almost all the threads in Mad Dog's forum and others.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions and I guess the love of a knife or a maker doesn't have to be rational. Alot of times emotions aren't.

But, Cliff has stood tall, firm, fair and calm throughout this brouhaha. I said before I respect Cliff for taking knives to places none of us dare nor want to go. Cliff shows that he can also take it calmly into the cyberDen as well.

I think folks will continue to buy Mad Dog as is their prerogative. MD's are a bit high ended for me. Now, I don't feel particularly compelled to make a reach for them.

So many other makers out there. I am taking the Mad Poet right now over the Mad Dog.

I've notice that people pay big money for Pxxx Hxxxxxxxxxx knives too....didnt PT Barnum say something about that? changed the name to protect the innocent...namely me...

I know exactly which Pxxx you are talking about Tom. When I first got into knives I thought "There's a no nonsense work knife with a working finish. I bet I would like one of those." After I got my price list I found out where the nonsense is. I know from people that have some of his knives that they perform well but I can think of quite a few makers that make knives that perform just as well at half the cost and twice the finish. A name goes a long way in this business.

I was gonna buy me one of those mad dog knives, but I'm not so sure now.

Yes, this is my real name....
