Ok...
How do I start this?
I was just getting ready to hit the rack when I checked my e-mail. From a guy who calls himself 'Diving Dave'...Wait a sec.

As of this posting,he is the newest registered member here at BFC.

Anyway,the e-mail contains the following:

If you like Greco knives check out www.cqcknives.com They have a great
selection of Greco knives and offer discounts to preferred customers. Right
now ALL of their knives are only $75!!!

I then checked the contact info on the website, and the mans name listed is David Bata.(2558 Elkmont Dr. Clarksville, TN 37040 (931-551-3932)) The reason I checked the contact info on the Website is because 'diving Dave' here on BFC has his e-mail addy blocked.

So,the question.
Has anyone else gotten this SPAM? And how do you feel about getting it from a guy that has (as of right now) no posts?

Im thinking he is just trying to take advantage of us.

You must be the chosen one.

I've yet to recieve any spam from this guy, and I hope I don't.

I'm sure Cougar or Ken Cook will see this shortly, and one of them can check the guy's IP number, and keep an eye on him.

I'll give a heads up in the moderators forum.

Yep, I just got that spam yesterday. I wondered how he got my email address, but now I see where, although the how is not quite as evident

Who knows how he got your address ... it's hardly a surprising coincidence that someone who's advertising a knife dealer website would also join Bladeforums. There's no such user as "Diving Dave" ... I can't check him out until I know his username, correctly spelled....

Once again, spambots cannot harvest addresses from web-based forums like Bladeforums, though they can from usenet (rec.knives etc.) Some members are afraid if they put an email address in their profile here they'll get spammed -- don't worry about it. A couple of times dorks have manually taken a few addresses from posts to forward chain letters, but that's so laborious a process it's nothing to worry about.
