What would be a good bandsaw for cutting metal and ocasionaly wood and handle material?

Thanks

There are some interesting recent posts on using portable bandsaws. Easy to make a stand but use a good one like Milwaukee or DeWalt

Either a portable band saw rigged up with a cutting table, or a used Rockwell or Delta band saw. The Rockwell or Delta band saw would be more expensive, but could handle a little bit better range of materials. Make sure the speeds are slow enough for metal.

I use the Milwaukee portable bandsaw. I made a bracket with lumber and metal strapping, and mounted it to the wall. Made a bigger platen to rest blades on. Strapped the trigger down, and just plug it in when I am ready to use it. Works well, and blades are easy to find. The Jet mentioned above is a better saw and also more pricey and takes up a lot more room. The Jet will be easier to carve up bigger pieces of steel with. Dan

I think you will find the HF 4 x 6 is used by alot of makers, I have had this one for two years and its works great for the $$. I took it apart and remounted on a stand to make a full upright, takes up less room and work is above the waist for view.
