hey guys. im not sure if this is the right forum for this subject or not. if not, then i guess Cougar can always move it.

anyway, just for future referance, i am looking for the names of brands of good BB guns. pistols and rifles. just need an idea as to what to look for in the future. if you can list the known price so i know as to what to expect id really appreciate it. thanks!

I would go for pellet guns. You can search this forum for "air guns," there has been a number of good threads in the past. You may also look into pyramydair.com, they have a lot of good stuff as well as information.

If you want action, I recommend CO2 guns from Crosman (10/77) and Umarex (Walther CP88, Beretta Storm Carbine).

For serious shooting (field target), there are countless good airrifles on the market. Most of them british or german made.

Check out straightshooters.com for some good information.

Beeman is a great name, but not the one the find at Dick's. They are just licensed. I"ve got an R7, and its a lot of fun. The rifle itself was $300 and then you really need a good scope.

These are very finely made guns, just like a quality firearm. The benefit is that you can shoot them in your backyard!

cool. yeah ive played around with a Daisy. those are fun. so are the beeman's.

that is what im looking for, something to shoot in my backyard!

+1 for those folks. I've placed a few orders with them and I found the prices to be competitive and the service was good. Do give a serious look to the pellet rifles. My son and I have spent many an afternoon putting .177 caliber holes in "stuff" around the house.

My first BB gun was a Daisy Powerline 880 BB/pellet gun. It's a multiple pump rifle. You can vary the power depending on how many times you pump it. you can load a ton of BBs into it, or run pellets through via single-shot action. It was a fantastic first gun. My friend had a similar Crosman, and we could load up on BBs and shoot all day long.

After shoting the 880 for a while, I bought a Daisy Powerline 717 pistol. After that, a Sheridan .20 Blue Streak. For a 7th grader, that was an awesome gun! In college, I bought an RWS Model 34, and several years later an RWS C225 CO2 pistol made by Umarex. All these guns are great fun to shoot.

So offsetlover, I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. You don't need to spend a lot to have fun shooting an airgun. i've seen Daisy Red Ryders selling locally here for $25 on sale. A Beeman, Gamo, or an RWS will easily run you $100+. There are lots of nice guns out there. Good luck with your search!

Although it doesn't use BBs, I really like the Sheridan Blue streak. Not only is it accurate, but with one or two pumps of air and no pellet in the chamber, it is a great "fly swatter"(and other flying things....).

my budget at anyone time (save now) is prolly going to be around $70 or so.

If you want a quality air rifle, buy Feinwerkbau, Weihrauch or one of the excellent British makes, e.g. Air Arms or Theoben.

If you want a "BB gun", I can't assist.

maximus otter

Depends on what you are going to do with it. 70 is almost enough to get a Slavia 631. It's powerful enough for plinking cans and small animals at close range (15-20 yards or so)
These are out of production but you can still get them. I think they run about 80$ You can get them here if they still have some.

There is also the 630, and 634, the 634 is a bit more, but it's also more powerful.

The slavia is a good airgun, It's a breakbarrel spring piston pellet gun. It's all blued steel, and has a nice beech stock.
Here is a good review. http://home.hiwaay.net/~ispellan/Slavia631.html
It is substantially better then most of the stuff you can get at walmart/dicks etc, but not quite as powerful.

Here is mine.

It's the poorman's R7.
Other Good brands like maximus named are Feinwerkau, Weihrauch(beeman), Airarms, Webley, Theoben, RWS. Crosman's are good budget airguns.

the benjamin sheridan airguns are the best in my opinion. I am borrowing one in .20 cal for pests around the house. Kills raccoons, and opossums great, I have killed 1 of each so far. This thing has authority. I took a number 10 tin can, the food storage kind, and shot at it with the .20. Went through with no problem at 15 yards. I recommend the .22 cal as the ammo is more available. You can vary the power, which is a good feature also. Shooting something like a frog, or a mouse would only maybe require like 2 pumps maybe. I haven't done it, but the fact that you can vary the power level is great. The gun at 8 pumps is louder than my little .177 pump up guns, but not to bad. Another guy has the .22 cal benjamin, and he said he kills woodchucks with 6 pumps, not even full power. So, it definitely is a good gun. Oh, by the way these are pellet guns, you only shoot pellets, so they aren't a "bb gun", they are an airgun. But they are better than a regular "bb" gun.

Overall, I wish I owned that gun. If you are looking for a more serious airgun, I would look at this one. Also, it is good for hunting, something I love to do. :)
Later, in my life, I will be sure to own this gun!

Take care,
Scottman

that is a beautiful rifle

If you want a .177 gun, I like my dad's crossman 2100. An adult airgun, but not supper powerful, and will not drop squirrels with the authority like the benjamin does. :)
