Good Blade for Under $75

now after researching more I am wondering if the delica is a better choice, the endura seems really big

1. I am looking for a good looking, stealthy pocket blade for around $75.

Would like to have a blade atleast 3 1/2" inches

This will be mainly used for camping

2. now after researching more I am wondering if the delica is a better choice, the endura seems really big

Why are you just going for the first knife being suggested [Spyderco] if you are new to knives I would definitely look around more. Spydercos are over-rated, the deploy hole takes up too much space, it's a waste. You will also find them a bit flimsy. There are many threads on another website, Spydercoforums about broken Spydercos. Cold Steel folders with triad locks are the strongest locks plus they are very durable knives [ask around], Spydercos can't keep up. Try to find a website with threads on broken cold steel folders, I'll eat my slingshot if you do.

If you have a local WallyWorld, check their sporting goods area for knives. The best buy at the C.A. (Central Alabama) stores is the $27 Buck 110. The knife is a bargain for such a classic - and made in the USA, except for the imported sheaths. If you like it - and want an 'upgrade' in blade metal, the Bass Pro Shop stores carry one with a CPM154 blade in place of the standard 420HC. That 'standard' steel is quite good - and the knife design is ideal for many camping/hiking chores.

i would not say the spyder hole is wasted space it works great if you use the knife for work, when you wear gloves. and they arent over rated, maybe a little overpriced...but not with the delica/endura series. and i have broken a few cold steel before. the finn bear, bushman, and pocket bushman (all really nice for the price, i still suggest). granted they arent triads but still. they claimed that the pocket buchman was as strong as a fixed blade and the lock was what broke on mine.

i personally think a lot of cold steels stuff is just cheesy..in my opinion. but great customer service.

dude i think one thing you might want to think of is getting a tenacious<spyderco> with a small fixed blade.

say:
$36 for the tenacious after shipping
and $32 for a bk11 with free shipping.
stays under your $75 limit and its much more effective than just one knife:)

when i first started into knives that was part of my camp set up. and it works, you not going to process wood with your folder. or at least i wouldnt.

hope this helps

Any knife can be broken, I maintain what i said before: Endura can't keep up with Recon 1 in durability or lock strength by a large margin. You will find much the same outcomes across the overall lines of these knives.

its really hard to say one way or the other.
the VG10 beats out the AUS8A easy.edge retention? hell yeah.
but the triad beats the regular lock back(not that either have failed me).

really you cant go wrong with either.

Depends on the HT, good AUS8 can kill bad S30V or whatever. Best to do some side by side comparisons, I know Ankerson for one will be able to tell us about both of these lines of knives as far as steel performance, I would trust his word.

I'll meet you 1/2 way, these knives are both OK in what they are, but since this guy is a noob he needs diversity of viewpoint I think. Hey noob what do you want your knife to do more exactly?

hell dude that sounds good.all i was saying was that aus8a is less than vg10 as a base steel. heat treat all ways has the final say.
look at bucks treatment of 420hc. they make it as good as aus8a. which is saying alot.

im really not trying to talk shit bro. just telling my experiences with the knives.

dude they have this new knife buy ESEE coming out soon that is the folding version of their classic izula..and for a camping folder i think its going to be awesome..its in D2 steel.

no price up yet but its something to look for in future.

and i feel you on only having $75 for a knife...im the same way.

hm, isnt it a folder based off of the H.E.S.T.? and i hear its around $200

I would be remiss if I didn't put in a plug for the Buck Vantage Pro.
