Good budget fixed blade

Snippy has a very good point. Do you have the ability to make your own out of a file or do you have a custom maker anywhere?

It must be tough to not be allowed to purchase things like this. Knives are the most basic and most valuable tool one can own and your government won't let you buy them. I feel for you!

favourite arms, when you open the site on the left side there is a menu. you scroll down until you can see or read the word ножове. then you click on it and a falling menu comes down with the brands written in english

Thanks, but it isn't the government, it is the isolated place where I live. There are no warehouses in here and this is why the shipping is so expensive. It is frustrating to not be able to buy what you want.

skyhorse, I agree with you, but it is a hollow grind which is used for dressing game and general hunting. I have been using it for 2 months and I find it quite hard to sharpen.

I think those two Cold Steel knives are OK for the money. I think the Master Hunter or SRK would be better.
They are both great knives for their price, but I'm still a student and I can't afford them. So I've come down to two knives: cs outdoorsman lite and glock field knife. I have just enough money to purchase one of them, so if someone has owned/used one or both of them, please share your opinion:)

Can't go wrong with a Mora HD Companion, and they're affordable enough that you can buy several. Here's a carbon steel example:

Hi Momchil, it's silly not to communicate in Bulgarian but since you've asking in English speaking forum, we'll do it that way.
Few questions: Did you ever tried finding answers or appropriate blade in some of the Bulgarian forums: Metal Blade, Bladeforum and so on ?
There are tons of good knives for sale constantly there, including Moras and Falknivens, used, new.
Recently I got a forum fixed blade from one of those forums and it is outstanding outdoor knife, it wasn't terribly expensive but it worth every penny IMHO so this is a good option, to look for some of their forum blades:

Another option would be to contact some of the local knife makers in Bulgaria trough some of those forums, they will help you to determine exactly what you looking for and will make pretty much out of any material, steel and so on, that suits your buget.
Most "bushcraft" fixed 4"-6" blades with wood or Micarta handle, made of 440 or higher grade steels will run you about or below a 100 Bulgarian leva, you will never find such prices for a custom knife in a store.
I have a custom knife made by this knife maker and I'm very happy with the quality of his work and price, you can check him out in his website:

In regard of the shipping cost the situation is very simple: If you purchase something from a store/site here in the US, they'll charge you shipping ( usually around $30 for a knife with size as the mentioned before Bocker) plus insurance for the package. This is perfectly normal, this price is reasonable. As much as I'm aware, and I was sending knives to Bulgaria for the last 5-6 years, $70 is much more that anyone should charge you for shipping.
Almost any knife will fit in one of those padded envelopes, the rule is - no small package under 4lb and $20-$40 value will go to Customs in BG, those packages are delivered straight to your address, so you are eliminating the Customs tax, usually about 15% of the stated value of the package.
Such package cost about $15-18 with First class mail and it's delivered for about 10 business days. I never had lost package this way.
Just as Snippy, I'll be happy to help you but we need to have some idea what are your limits. Let's say, you're looking for a knife that will get to you for total of $100, you are looking for a 5" or 6" or 7" blade, I learned that you have problem sharpening hallow grind ( which I find strange but anyway) so you may not like to have hollow grind, we need to know such details...

POCEH KOCEB, Здравей колега! First of all, thanks for all the information. I am really interested in your knife: what model is it, the price(in lv) blade length, materials etc.

Here is the link to the Bladeforum, it's a forum members design, they are about 120 total made ( I believe) and the feedback is very good so far, they are in use from last Christmas.
I honestly don't remember the exact price, I believe with shipping and everything I got it for around $100, which I find very reasonable for what it is.
In the thread you will find everything about the project, blade geometry, grind, blade material, scales and so on, why such choice and the rest of the details.

My knife isn't for sale, understandably, it will be hard to find one of those simply because the people that ordered those don't want to sell them,
but if you ask around in the forum, they'll find you an option that will get you what you want for about 80 - 90 Bulgarian lewa, I'm positive about this.

The Becker 15 is a great knife that does a lot very well. I believe it's being discontinued and has been getting sold recently at amazing prices.
