Hey, all I really have in terms of outdoor clothes are a pair of BDUs that are too tight, and a pair of REI pants that are too big..

Do any of you know a good site to pick up some nice wool/cotton shirts with the two pockets, good cargo pants. Hats, gloves and other tough, but light stuff? I've been to duluthtrading company which seems to have really nice stuff, but I want to see what's out there.

And please keep in mind that I'm 15, and do not have a job. So no $200 swandri shirt sites please:D

sportsmansguide.com has a good selection of military surplus. A lot of good quality wool clothing thats affordable, and often times never issued.

sierra trading post http://www.sierratradingpost.com/

cheaper then dirt http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/

Out of those 3 I totally reccomend Sierra. Ive ordered from them more times then I can remember, and they are quick to ship, and great service. I just got a new pair of chacos for 23.00 from em!

They are all great sites though, CTD is a great place for surplus items from every corner.

If your lookin for a bombprof pair of pants, I totally recomend the Carhart painters pants. Tough as hell!

I have found some pretty good deals at Walmart. Some of the cargo pants they have there are pretty good. I have 2 pairs near 10 years old and still going strong. I have had to replace a couple buttons and stitched up a seam when I blew out the ass end while wet and climbing over something. But repair made and still good to go. I have the ones with the zip off legs. I also have a couple PFG knock off shirts from there, both long and short sleeve that work well.

Woolrich clothing is good quality and you can often pick up bargains in their clearance dept !

I still find it hard to beat U.S. GI BDU's  These are Super tough & last forever. I am still using my BDU's that I purchased from my local Military Surplus back in the year 2000, These have been "used" . I Played PaintBall in them every other weekend for 5yrs & I also used them for camping/hiking/fishing & sometimes hunting ! Still going strong & no color fade, no busted stitching, no lost buttons. Just a Very Comfortable pair of pants ;) My favorites

'VV Boutique' AKA Value Village, is your friend.

Don't know what the equivalent store would be down Stateside

Used to swing by once a week after work to check out what they got in, you'd be surprised what you can find in there by way of pantaloons, wool coats, sweaters, all for cheap $

In my many years of experience with them, you'll never have an unresolved problem with Sierra Trading Post. Botach Tactical has, however, generated much more mixed reviews.

Hey guys - I just wanted to throw it out there just to watch out for Botach Tactical - I have had a terrible experience with them and after I looked them up I see that several others have had bad experiences with them too.:thumbdn:

As you can see they only rate 4/10 which if I had known ahead of time I would have went somewhere else. My transaction with them took 7 months to get my money back and I never received anything from them! Not that it would happen to you - just do your research - I would hate to see anyone go through what I did.

I got a pair of Tru-Spec 24/7 100% cotton pants. I absolutely love them for the outdoors and even work. Rugged as hell, plenty of pockets/pockets space. They also have shorts and shirts in the same 24/7 series. I paid about $40 at a store near me, but have seen them cheaper online.

Yeah, I'll probably pic up a few bdus from the surplus place, and a few cabelas/ gander moutain stuff.

Thanks for the links, those are some good stuff.

I've tried all the high tech pants around -- REI, Railriders, NorthFace, etc. -- and while they're fine I end up going back to good old fashion BDUs. I don't think they can be beat. Just two pieces of advice: make sure you get the ones that are either 50/50 cotton-nylon or better yet the 65/35 poly-cotton. They'll last longer and dry six times as fast as plain cotton. Also, I always buy plain khaki or OD. They fit an outdoor wardrobe without making you look like you are at Rambo-fantasy-camp.

I usually get mine from:

Yes, I have had a similar experience. Sorry about that, I was just posting pics and specs from websites and diddn't pay attention that one of the links was Botach.

mountain khakis are a great brand. They are like carharts but with more pockets and are double weaved.

Why don't you guys with Botach complaints put up a loud and clear over in the GBU feedback forum:confused::barf: Let everyone know when you get screwed over anywhere on the Net so no one else has to suffer:grumpy:

If your 15yrs old better have your folks take you down to the Goodwill for a few hours of browsing. You can find all you'll need there for cheap. next year when you out grow it all you can go right back....do this til yer around 20 then you should be good to go with what yer wearing'....kids!:D

This is good advice. My wife is quite frugal and she use to always frequent the Good Will for kids' clothes. Every year we drop of a bag or three of out-grown clothes at the Good Will...a lot of good stuff as well. My wife has often found brand-new, never worn Columbia, REI, etc. type outdoors clothes in her size. She hates paying full retail and will shop on Ebay or other types. What's your size? I have a ton of older (some brand new) woodland BDU's that are packed away. I think most of those sizes are Medium Regular...Due to the new ACU change in our uniforms, hit the local surplus shops; they should have tons of the older woodland camo. As stated the 65/35 poly-cotton stuff is pretty tough and will last a long time. I've often used my older, faded BDU's for hunting...great subdued pattern!
