I want to buy a Case peanut in yellow to commemorate my daughter's birth yesterday. Anyone have a favorite dealer they use? I have to have a 2012 date code, and I'd love to be able to talk to someone about the possibility of snagging a Feb 3 box date. That would be awesome, and I could wait a couple months to be able to get one.

Any opinions would be great. Also, my email is medicevans@gmail.com, as I don't have PM.

My favorite place to buy case knives is Shepherd Hills Cutlery. Large selection, great service, and many exclusives. It's especially nice if you can visit in person - very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Worlds largest case dealer: http://www.casexx.com/

Knifeworks is an excellent dealer to do business with. Huge thumbs-up.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works has a very good selection and dependable service, although their current website is pathetic as far as searching and product organization.

No one beats the service from AG Russell knives. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them if they have the model you want.

Since you are looking for something VERY specific, Shepherd Hills may be the best choice, they do have a large inventory. I just find their prices too high.

Deadwood Knives might be another possibility. Good CS, good prices, pretty large inventory.

Knifeworks and New Graham are other possibles. Both have excellent CS and good prices.

SH and knifeworks are within a dollar of each other. I think it's going to come down to customer service (don't so many decisions?). I will email the respective businesses and go from there. I might be able to convince my wife to let me buy two, one to save and one to use if I can buy Feb 3 date codes.

Emails sent to New Graham, Deadwood, Wesson, SH, Case Knife Outlet and Knifeworks. I guess we'll see next week what they say.

Email back from Wesson on a Sunday morning! He will call the factory Monday and see what they can do.

Case was keying in a 400 knife order for us today. Yellow Peanuts in SS and CV should be on the order. Will see what date codes they send us. Realize Case just started producing 2012 date stamps last month. Many of the knives shipped this month will likely have 2011 tang stamps.

Well, update is as follows:
Deadwood-no go
Ace- maybe
Knifeworks- indicated they could definitely do it, but we'll see what the rest say.

I figured that the 2012 date codes would e his now coming in to dealers, but like I say, I'd be perfectly happy to wait a couple months of someone would say that they'd be able to get me a 2/3/2012 date code.

Michael: I didn't mean to ignore you in my original post. I use tapatalk and it doesn't show signatures. I'd like to work with a dealer as you put it "support you to support BF". What do you think the chances are of snagging one or two specific dated peanuts would be when the Feb date codes start hitting?

I've done this for nearly 40 years....specific dates...i.e. 2/3/2012 are NEARLY impossible to obtain...think I have actually seen it come together once in my time. Year specific tang stamps, especially on a core item such as the Peanut should be no problem once they start 2012 production. We just got invoiced for the order I placed last week. I will watch for the yellow Peanuts and let you know what I find in the box.
Regards, Mike

I want to warn you about Wesson ace hardware.

I ordered a cv trapper and it had a bulge in the liner like some dirt got trapped underneath when it was pressed together. So it had a crack in the bone too. I emailed them pics and sent it in ASAP.

Before I even ordered it I emailed them and asked if they had it in stock and if they could look it over for defects.

I returned it to them. They gave me the runaround for over a month before i got a refund minus shipping. The knife was received by them, and sat there for a month. I got no response or anything.

Total pain in the butt. I called and emailed several times. It was always we will call you back today, never once called me back and charged me shipping. I will not recommend or buy anything from them.

Intron, thanks for the heads up.

Mike, so you're saying there's a possibility then.......? Lol. I'm just pulling your leg. It might just have to be a 2012 tang stamp and let it go, but how cool would it be if I could get on with a specific date? Just let me know what you find, if you would. My email is enabled on my profile. Like I said, I'd really like to support a BF dealer.

Also, zero return communication from SH or Case outlet. Too big to care about specific requests?

Of course, no email back from Michael Dye of New Graham either, but I'll let him off the hook this time.......:D lol

(Mike, since tone doesn't come across in text form, totally giving you a hard time here. I appreciate you talking to me in this forum and keeping an eye out for those peanuts for me.)

Looks like Mike from New Graham has got you covered but I'll throw in another great knife shop that I've had good dealing with. Sooner State Knives.
There a smaller shop but they stock a ton of Case knives.

Brian, will see what I see when the Case order arrives.

New Graham is my favorite. Their customer service is not of this world in the best of ways.

Sooner State Knives is a guy you can talk to.Chances are low he would have your particular date. But he is a nice guy and would look to see.
