Can someone point me is some good directions here?
Thanks.
Contact the nearest military base or national guard armory, tell them you have knives to donate to the troops.
Good ideas, thanks.
Guess I'll write something up.
Stuff like the JD Smith to the Boy Scouts, stuff like the ZT 301 to the service.
Hopefully these will be very old and worn out knives before they're up for grabs.
Been wondering about this myself. We've no kids, one nephew & lots of nieces who couldn't care less about knives. None of my friends share my interest in edge tools. In spite of myself I have started a small collection of great knives at least 4 made by knifemakers of BladeForums. Expect that there will be many more in my future including a few of the truly exceptional folders by some of the amazing makers here - soon as I can afford such a luxury. So - what do we all do with these special blades when we are givin' the boot? I've been thinking to start this kind of thread asking if Blade Forums would consider creating a category for this purpose. It's not such a stretch to think that of the many hundreds of members on this site that such a category would provide a welcome venue & or resource. We here could advise on fair selling price & therefore help our community & families through a difficult process.
Knowing that you guys are out there willing to provide such support, I would instruct, through my will, to my wife or other executor, to post my blades on the BladeForum for sale. Good knives would go to good homes & my wife would get a fair return on items that she could not know how to value otherwise. Yes, I could do some planning and provide info & sale prices on each knife (likely I will) but I haven't yet and one never knows... Is this asking too much of the BladeForums community? What do you folks think?
May I ask again what your age is?

Why not give them to the NRA? They have a program just for that purpose. Or maybe Knife Rights?
So, not trying to be a bummer here, but one of these days I'm going to croak - just thinking ahead.
I have a couple of firearms and a stack of knives that my sister (if she's around when I go) will likely just dump off at the police station and walk away.
It would be a shame to not put the value of my stuff towards a decent charity.
Not sure how to go about this... hopefully I'll have decades to make up my mind.
Any reputable organizations that would auction off my stuff for a good cause? Something for kids, maybe?
To be honest, I'd like to be somewhat selective in who might be eligible to receive my goods.
People who actually would need a knife for work, or reasonable play - gackheads, chest puffers and psychos need not apply.
Can someone point me is some good directions here?
Thanks.
