Good, cheap knives. Svord, Higo, Mora, Opinel, what else?

I read that the current Colt branded knives are pretty well made. I have not paid much attention to the pricing, but I believe that they are inexpensive.

The Colt branded slip joints are well made, I don't know about their one handed folders. Their slip joints are currently being made by the same people who do the rough rider knives to my knowledge but they have slightly tighter tolerances for QC to my knowledge being one of the main differences as well as going for some of the more modern materials such as titanium nitride coating.

I own 2 of their slip joints and they are built like tanks though the blades are 1/8in thick which is too thick for my preference so I haven't put them through much use, and these are the newer carbon steel blades they put out but I've heard good things from the one person who did put it through it's paces. I own 2 of the rough riders as well and they are also quality knives for the money and the 440a works pretty good for what it is. Rough Riders your looking at $5-10, Colt's your looking at closer to $10-15 and they are both well worth the money.

Have a look at Casström knives from Sweden.
Here in Germany they are sometimes referred to as: "One step up from Mora's" ;)
Okapi knives might qualify as well...

I just told a friend that he can have all of my mules. I also gave him some limit edtion case knifes and one of the case knife is first run 1 of 500. That is about $2000.00 worth of knifes that I just gave him.

If you are still in a giving mood.....my collection would consider it an honor to take some of those! Wow that was a generous gift, must be a good friend!

Another vore for the Mercator K55k. I much prefer it to the douk-douk. You can also get it, without the cat logo (in plain black, which I think looks classy) or with different handle colors (red, blue).

My Rat 2 is a great knife.

Old Schrades are terrific knives, and if you look around, some are quite reasonable. Just be careful and be sure they're marked USA. If they're just tang stamped Shrade, all aone, they're the new ones made in China.

Buck knives.

Good call. Decent enough knives to be useful and aesthetically pleasing, while inexpensive enough that give aways are painless. I gave a female teacher a 119 in the far north and I believe that it made her feel a little safer. I have a thing for my little 105 Pathfinder also. I just like it.

I like the Mikov Fish knife, a little slip joint that can be found very inexpensively via several internet retailers.

The Case Mini Blackhorn is a small, unassuming workhorse lock back usually available for less than $12 at a very common big box home improvement center.

I have a few slip joints that seem to be intended for the Chinese domestic market, by the brand name "Hongjie", that were extremely inexpensive, but turned out to be solid, reliable users, despite some exhibiting weird aesthetic sense. Interesting and unusual pocket knives.
