Good Custom/Handmade knifemakers under $100?

Alot of my knives are in that range, but alot of what I do are small cord wrapped fixed blades with high carbon steels. I had a run of a little paracord wrapped drop point for $65 a few years back, and I make batches of altoids tin knives sometimes for about $45. I would certainly hope that people thought I put out quality work at some of the prices I ask.

Hi Josh,

The prices you choose to charge are your own. If you build your knives as best you can, and have protocols that are proven, there should be no question. I was not saying that it CANNOT be done, I was saying that it is uncommon, and deservedly so.

A craftsperson should be paid to at least the level of their skill and product....should they choose to undervalue it, the fault lies with him or her, and no one else.

If you feel comfortable with the profit you make on your knives, then there is nothing to question....I look forward to handling your work

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I've seen a custom or two that I felt was a good buy at around $100 or so, but as others, i'de advise to set your mark in the $200-$300 range if possible.

I look forward to you seeing/handling some of my knives. Thanks for the input man. I always like to read your posts and what you have to say.

Rocky Menefee (Rick's brother) makes a very nice knife for $125. With a sheath.

In my shop a basic, small sheath cost me $55-60 and a decent block of wood cost $20-75. Then ya have steel, belts, glue, pins, sandpaper, etc & overhead. I've always been pretty good at math, so... ;)

There will always be exceptions (as others have already noted above) but this topic does remind me of the old saying:

Good tattoos aren't cheap, and cheap tattoos aren't good!!!
