Good Dagger?

Its a dagger because its sharp on both sides.

the dagger, in its contemporary or mature form, has certain definable characteristics, including a short blade with a sharply tapered point, a central spine or fuller, and (usually) two cutting edges sharpened the full length of the blade, or nearly so.

To get a good Fairbairn/Sykes dagger right now you'll need to go with either Peter Parkinson or MacDonald Armories & expect to pay more than $200. The modern ones have smaller handles than the originals & don't feel all that good in hand & are generally unimpressive.

I'm a big dagger nut & for that price range I'd go with a CS Peacekeeper in San Mai. Very comfortable handle, beautiful hollow ground blade , & handles very well for a dagger. For just a bit more Rudolph Pattay's custom version of the Mark 2 is well worth considering. They're very stoutly put together with a soldered guard & the handle epoxied to the tang. I really like the blade shape, too.

For the ultimate FS type dagger but with modern steel, finishes etc Hill Knives out of Rotterdam, there are about 20 left from the last batch of 250.
See here http://www.hillknives.nl/In Stock/In Stock.htm scroll down for the Commando Knife. I have FS knives from both Peter Parkinson and Paul MacDonald the Hill version is the way forward unless you require historical accuracy in some form or another.

Edit, oops bit over the OPs limit, still the best FS type available.

If the price is close to your limit this would be a steal. The Tai Pan is an exellent dagger.
