Good day fishing (pics) spyderco salt saves the day...again!

Hehe, yeah, they are straight up nasty. Only thing worse is a wahoo. And they are WAY worse! I actually thought to take a photo when I was popping the hook out with the spyder hole, and I thought better of it. Playing with my camera and a cuda with one hand on a kayak seemed...unwise. :-). Oh well, ill get some shots of those choppers for yall next time!

Fried cuda for dinner! It's one of my favorites! Delicious! Ill take it over snapper!

I'll take wahoo over anything, even dolphin. Smoked sail is pretty good.

Way to go Lance. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'll let you know, stop by and eat some monster fish burritos.

You realize when i say "nasty" I'm talking about their cantankerous behavior and not their taste right? Not to mention the mouth full of razorblades they have! Yup, wahoo are nasty. Mind your fingers or they will disappear! You'd be safer being bit by a shark. But yeah, wahoo is one of the best eating fish in the ocean! I'm telling you though, our pacific barracuda are DELICIOUS!

That is one heck of a rootserfish....Rooster fish are great fighters even the smaller ones. The only fish that fight as hard in my opinion for an inshore fish are tarpon,Where are you fishing?Mexico East Cape?
Best regards,
salmonkiller

You are welcome. Give us a shout and we'll set you a place at the table! Bring knives!! ;-).

You got yourself a deal! :D
Coincidentally, every time I read one of these threads of yours I feel like making some fish tacos or something. ;)

I know wahoo, one of my favorite gamefish to catch. And the reason I have a long gaff on my boat. Kingfish are not far behind in meanness and both have a set. Great post.

Damn, that was a nice wahoo! I'd like to get a big one like that on the end of my gaff! Hehehe...you can't just "flop em on the deck" like that in the kayak though! :-). I landed a hot kingfish once and he slipped the gaff and landed between my legs. He went wild! I considered just jumping in the ocean and giving him the kayak! Actually if I hadn't gotten control of him in the first few seconds, that's exactly what I would have done. Meh, I know it sounds cowardly, but there just wasn't enough room there for both of us! ;-)

dumb question: how many days a year do you fish? next to the marlboro cowboys, whom our late father called "the happiest people on earth," yours must be the next most satisfying vocation. a lot healthier too since you can't smoke while fishing.

Great pics!

I think all salt water fish have sharp teeth, though barracudas are no joke. I learned this the hard way when I first transitioned from fresh water (bass) fishing to my first ocean trip. Caught a decent size grouper (about 22") and thought I could hold it by the mouth just like a bass. Big mistake.

Yup, lots of carnivores out there. Here's a friendly little red snapper. :-).

That pic reminded me of another mistake I made. There are gills and gill plates. Gill plates are sharp. Do not stick your fingers in the plates. One violent shake and it'll cut you nicely.
