Went for Bluegill today. Sorry, no knife porn. I had a Leatherman Charge Ti in my pocket and a AG Russell Woodswalker neck knife. The AG was used for cutting worms and the leatherman for removing stubborn hooks.

A river bend I fished in the afternoon

Here's the jig I was using. 1/16" tied right to the line, with a bobber about a foot up. Worked great

Saw this guy swimming through the water and figured I'd give him a shot. He hit hard pretty quickly. He was released though. About 14"

The take (smallest is about 7"). We have a daily limit of 10 but it got dark so I left with 8.

At one point they were hitting so quickly I had to get a video of it. The first one I didn't set the hook properly, the second they stole my bait and the third I nailed him. It was like this from 7:30 to 8:30pm. I could have filled my limit pretty easily I think. I normally wouldn't reel in so quickly but I wanted to reset the camera.

I think the one on the video is the smallest one I caught all night. They are sitting on ice right now to be filleted and soon as I get home tomorrow.

Fried bluegill, corn on the cobb, some rice and green beans for a side. Mmmmmmm.....

Nice catch! Mind if I ask which river that is? Don't worry. I'm just curious. Not looking for any specifics. Huron?

Chris

Yup it's Huron. I didn't get much there. It was early afternoon and I was trying some new artificial bait (it didn't work). That was in Island Lake State Park. Island Lake itself was pretty good for gills though.

There is no bad day fishing!

Nice stringer of bream, as my Grandpa used to say. What kind of worms were you using? Did you dig them yourself?

Man, that makes me want to blow off work tomorrow and go fishing.

I don't think people give beam enough credit for good eating. Good catch.

They're just night crawlers that can be purchased at any gas station or sporting goods store here. The batch I used today was given to me by some fellow anglers who were leaving for the day. Gave me an excuse to hit my favorite spot in the evening and catch some gills.

I cut them in quarters and one section usually lasts for two or three fish caught. I think all night I only used two full worms.

Nice job, we don't see enough fishing pics on this forum. Thanks for sharing.

I might even snap a pic before dinner tomorrow. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Nice way to wrap up the thread. I assume there was a cold one or two on the table as well. :D

I need to take up fishing again...good times! And that plate of food looks delicious.

Yep I love the taste of bluegill, actually I find them better tasting than crappie and smallmouth bass but not quite so good as yellow perch & walleye.
