Bausch & Lomb Hemisphere binoculars, that is.

They have 'em at my local Sams Club for about $60, and I have a Christmas gift certificate to burn. They're 10x42 nitrogen purged, water proof/fog proof. BAK lenses. Does anyone have any experience with them? I need to spend my money!!!

I got some exactly the same specs two years ago - same source. Made my old Bushnell 7 x 35 rubber armoreds seem like a Civil War relic. They were much brighter, and more compact vertically, but longer. The $200 difference compared to the big German names seems to be weight - mine are heavier than the 7 x 35's, and this makes a difference at the end of a long day hunting on the ground. Focusing takes a lot of turns - I would like to see these in a permanent focus, which would require much better optics in this class. But the price is right if buying Chinese is OK with you (mine are - check theirs.)
Good glass is always you get what you pay for. A old friend had a pair of 8 x 30 Steiners from K-Mart. They were low end for export to Joe Hunter, but they were still Steiners - light and bright. I can't wait for the Chinese to import 1/2 ton pickups for $5k new.
