Good Deal, Bandsaw

I would save that $100 until you have $300 more and get a bigger horsepower bandsaw. I personally would not get one smaller than 3/4 hp. Low HP just makes you frustrated.

I dont have enough room for a bigger bandsaw, or 400 dollars.

I'll take a piece of metal with me to test it, but is it worth 100 dollars? or should i keep looking?

You should find out what the speeds are.
I have a benchtop 3 wheel machine that is only for wood. I havn't used it in years, It was always popping it's blade off no matter how many times I fixed it.... so I let it sit and think about what it's done. Total pos.

Probably not good for metal. Not positive, but almost positive - though you could possibly run the speeds right, finding blades may be rough.

It'll do the job for handles and scales with a fair amount of tuning and a LOT of attention and patience. I used one very similar for about 6 months before I sucked it up and got the ridgid. But I still have that old 3 wheeler, and once winter sets in and I need projects, I'll tune it for leather cutting with one of those fancy cylinder blades.

If you want to do metal, look at a portable bandsaw. If you're willing to buy chinese, one can be had for $55-60 new down here.

It says it comes with a wood, and metal blade.

I guess il keep looking, but i want to start soon (Christmas exchange)

if it comes with a metal blade, go try it out! just arm yourself with speed data.

I had a three wheeled bandsaw for a while and they tend to be problematic and high maintenance. You can take that for what its worth. My saw was a grizzly.

If you want something cheap I would go for a 9" bench top delta and if you want to cut metal a portaband. Just my .02

Most of the "metal" blades are for soft and/or thin metals unless it's for an actual metal bandsaw. Wood bandsaws can be used, but I'd say it's not worth the trouble unless you're using a really high-end saw and friction cutting.

Just posted this for another

You can get the saw at Harbor Freight on sale for $70

get the replacement guarantee,
Simple wood frame, bolted to a cross member using the upper handle holes on the saw. Worked great. Can be used with some of the other better protable band saws.

This is a better value overall, need to build stand for it.

I just seen a nice 3/4hp folding bandsaw in Princess Auto. It was $229. I have been told these will work well. I can't afford a $500 plus machine either.
