Yeah, I figured the wheels needed a little bit of realignment. It's working fairly well now, but sometimes it needs to be adjusted back after it slides around. Now that I have a 2x72", the 1x42" sander you sent me a while ago is being passed on to another guy who is stuck with hand files still.

I'm going to experiment with trying to use the spindle as a contact wheel.
As far as radiusing the edges of the contact wheel, I'm afraid that will make it harder for me to track the belt to the side when I grind transitions. I'd rather not modify the platen edges to do transition grinding better. Grizzly's customer service, in my opinion is a 10 out of 10. I just gave them a call, and they never put me on hold or anything. They had a technician waiting on the line who helped me out and sent out a new shoe bracket and platen to me when I told them that there was something wrong with their bracket, and it was slightly off.
