hey folks, i wanted to alert all the knuts to some deals i found on a MAJOR internet retailer, but i wasn't sure if it was appropriate to post it since i don't think they are affliated like newgraham, 1sks etc. someone posted a deal they got from wal mart, but i don't want to risk getting people mad. let me know if it's ok...

Hi Scar,

Bladeforums has an Exchange area for selling/advertising, but that is restricted for those with paid memberships.

General advertising in the forums at large is not necessarily a good idea and depending on the post content, could be edited by moderators. If you are responding to someone else's post on where to get a good deal, responding according to your experience ("I got a good deal at XYZ Company") is certainly appropriate. Of course, the posts we've all seen are not always caught and can't be the rule for the members at large.

I really appreaciate your sensitivity in asking before leaping.

understood. since i'm not responding to a post, i'll keep it under wraps. thanks for the clarification.

Maybe you can post what deals you have found without telling us where, then if anyone is interested they can e-mail you. I am not sure if this is much better, however you can tell us about your great deal and not mention seller. Thats not against the rules. Tell us what kind of knife you got, how you like it, etc etc:)

good thinking badguy. ok.. this site has SOG, SAK and Gerber at excellent prices, and free shipping on orders over 25 dollars. i got a pentagon elite for 52. free shipping.

oh, and i forgot to mention leatherman.

pentagon elite huh?? Did you get it yet?? Let us know what you think. I never really handled one

ok.. got the PE 1 and here are my thoughts..

CONS
--not sharp enough out of the box. had to get it up to snuff on the sharpmaker.

--some blade wobbble. not as stout as shorter folders. the knife is long and inherently flexible if you put enough pressure on it.

-- thumbstuds are massive. it can get caught on the jeans pocket on the way in.

--high clip carry, if you care about that kind of thing.

--- no real place for index finger to sit. would be concerned in a thrusting application.

-- BIG!! maybe be too large for EDC

PROS

---grippy handle with a thumbramp (not that it needs one for those thumbstuds)

--- ARC Lock--- strong as hell. similar to AXIS. a little less oomph behind it than say my BM 551 lockup.

-- point is reinforced for added strength

--lightweight

--reversible clip

overall, this knife is so-so. i got a deal on it so i'm not that dissapointed. i'm gonna use it mainly for bigger jobs and outdoor stuff. too big for daily edc but a good knife to take on a walk. good sd knife? some more finger protection and i would say yes.
