Good EDC blade qualities?

Budget is a big part of the equation, as you need to be comfortable with a knife you can afford to use(and potentially damage) for true everyday carry, IMO.
I forgot to include the budget. Its included now.

I know you said you were not a fan of plastics but the Benchmade mini-griptilian with multi blade shapes and colors is a USA bargain for around $75, and I don't know of anyone breaking the handles without intentional abuse.

I thought I was missing something. Thanks for the heads up, and I'm looking to spend 50-150. As a broke college student, I don't have 1000 dollars to spend on a piece of metal that will be in my pocket 65% of the time

Fair enough ;)
(Though to be fair I'm in college too, just fprtunate enough to have a very good job for my age that allows for luxuries for the moment while still being able to save money for later)

I will say that I do carry and use all of my knives, but my most expensive knife is actually the ones I use and carry the most, my Shirogorv 95T M390.

But anyway, onto your question: I think that the Paramilitary2 that has been reccomended a couple of times already is a very good choice for you so far. S30V is nice, as long as you don't abuse it and know how to sharpen (it can get chipped on yu if you're not careful), and the knives are built very strong.
Along the same lines, many of Benchmade's more recent offerings in the axis lock fit into your budget range as well, with similar materials to the PM2, and a variety of blade shapes and functions.

If you were willing to look at a couple of frame locks, ZT has some very interesting folders coming out this year that are going to be in your range, though I know you said that in general you didn't want anymore of those. Just a thought since they will be notably cheaper than ZT's previous offerings.

And my orginal recommendation of the Code4 from Cold Steel still stands, though hopefully in the CTS-XHP steel when they release that in the near future.

I have a few knives that I can carry daily. The main knife I carry is a small 2 blade yellow case knife in CV steel. It's small and easily is hidden in my pocket and it holds a great edge. I also have a 3 blade case knife that I got from my dad for Christmas. It's a yellow CV too, but it's a little bulkier so I only carry it occasionally.

I also have a few lock back spyderco knives (endura and a delica), but those usually get ugly glances from my office mates when I get them out, especially around women so I keep those at home and carry them when I go out on the weekend.

One more knife that I really like is the Camillus Tanium. It's small and if I take the clip off of it, it fits in the pocket very well. Also the VG10 steel is very easy to sharpen and holds an edge very well. I love the fact that it is black nitrited too so no rust concerns.

A few others I have is a Boker 4 blade pocket knife, my great granddad's buck lockback and Moore knife 2 blade with bone grips. I only carry these if I am going somewhere nice and if I get them out, they are a conversation piece.

As of now, I have a Kershaw blur in s30v which I carry most often. I own an Ontario rat 1 which is my beater knife. I have a spyderco resilience in 8cr13mov for food prep. Lastly I have a Kershaw cryo in 8cr13mov which I carry as a secondary edc aka the knife I take out in public.

I have no issues with any of the steels, but I guess I'm looking for something that can be my go to edc. The blur is great, but sometimes I feel the recurve isn't the right choice for some applications.

What I'm Looking For

Blade Shape: drop point, sheepsfoot, tanto. Anything besides recurve and wharncliffe.

Handle Materials: open to anything. Except for plastic. Frn, thermoplastic, zytel etc.

Blade Steel: open to suggestions

Opening Method: open. But with thumbstuds, I'd prefer the design of the Kershaw blurs angled studs. But I like various other methods.

Locking mechanism: triad lock, compression lock, axis lock, lockback. I'd rather not have another linerlock or framelock.

So if you can suggest the best options in each of the above categories, I'd be able to narrow down my choices and find something I like. Thanks

***BUDGET IS $50-$150***
