Good examples of beefy axis or compression locks?

Just wondering what are some good examples of large, heavy, fairly beefy production folders with about 2.5 - 4.0 inch blades, which are also fairly quick opening?

Reason for asking is all I have ever had are liner locks and a couple of lock back types, but am trying to decide what my next choice should be.

I don't know what you mean by a compression lock, but axis I do know.
Benchmade:
BM 610/615
BM 520

And for all around fast opening knives--
Zero Tolerance:
ZT 0200
ZT 0300
ZT 0400

What is your budget? Any particular blade shapes you like?

The Superhawk is fast, has a compression lock, ~3" blade.
It is a chunky knife but its not that heavy at all

Benchmad HK14205 built like a tank. Nice thick liners and a very stout blade.

I have 3 axis locks and the 615 is the easiest, smoothest and fastest for me. Out of the 2 compression locks I have the Para Military is the stuff!

I would say that the BM Rukus 610 is probably the heaviest and biggest of the Axis locks at 10.1" overall length, blade at 4.25" and a weight of 7.7 ounces. Don't know what the biggest compression lock is but only Spyderco is using that lock. Cold Steel has an Ultra Lockon several knifes, and then the biggest of all would have to be the new SOG (Arc Lock) Fat Cat with a 4.5" blade and 10.2" overall with a weight of 8.5 ounces.:D:thumbup: Would love to have one, but not at the asking price.

I like spear point, clip, and some others. The only thing I really want to stay away from since I have had so many already are the Tanto.
The budget is quite modest -- around $125.00 or so. Don't know what a compression lock is either, but saw it mentioned in another thread as being a strong lock.

Does ZT come in bead blast or plain satin?

As far as budget goes, I might be able to go a bit higher depending on what I can get for what I am selling. Also, I am looking at a used knife or eBay so that should help stretch the dollar.

Get a Paramilitary.
Fits the budget, and has the compression lock(kinda like a cross between a liner lock and an AXIS--check out the Spyderco website for extra info:)).

Go to knife works and search the ZT 0205  Bead blasted finish.

You will not be disappointed with a ZT.

If you go to the Kershaw subforum, there's some people who did a review + pics of the 0205.

Is there a way to quickly open the Spyderco with one hand? I had a spydie Police for a few days, but could never get the hang of fast opening one handed.

That wasn't Cumberland Knife Works was it?

If you can get a hold of a Spyderco Lil Temp, that sounds like it would fit the description. Also: Superhawk or even a Paramilitary.

Tough Benchmades:
14200/14250
610/615
520

Police doesn't open as nicely as most of the newer models, due to the hole positioning.
Spyder drop(flicking handle down whle holding the hole between thumb and forefinger) opens all Spyderco knives quickly.

get a Para Military, fast deploy and compression lock, and D2 steel as well

It's a limited Sprint Run but you can pick it up for around $100 on the Bay

here is my CPM D2 Foilage Para

that para-military is sweet.
I love the spyderco compression lock.
Axis-locks I don't mind, but apparently they
can be considered gravity knives in some places
and can lead to trouble. (nyc for one)
spydercos can be flicked open pretty easy with the holes.
