Good examples of beefy axis or compression locks?

Don't know what a compression lock is either, but saw it mentioned in another thread as being a strong lock.

I believe that's going to be a Spyderco exclusive, but I could be wrong about that. The Paramilitary is probably closest to your description of the current comp locks available from Spyderco. It's not a spear point, but the only other offering I know of within your specs is the Superhawk, which is a hawkbill blade.

As far as strong AXIS locks, all AXIS locks are pretty strong. Someone has already suggested the H&K14205. I can second that choice. If you want a slightly smaller AXIS lock that's still strong and dependable, the H&K 14210 is a 3" blade with a drop point. Both are very nice.

Throw my 2 cents in for the HK 14205. I think it fits every requirement you listed, but those pics of the Superhawk Haze listed have me thinking I may have to pick one of those up. Looks pretty strong.

Is there a way to quickly open the Spyderco with one hand? I had a spydie Police for a few days, but could never get the hang of fast opening one handed.

I can open my spydies just as fast all my others, so yes.

Knifeworks is getting an exclusive 710 with foliage G10 and M4 steel. The 710 is a proven classic and extremely fast opening. The M4 steel should be awesome. The price is $150.
