Good Field Knife

Buck 110 is very nice but also pretty heavy. The same applies to the ZT 200 and 300.
It all depends on how much you're prepared to carry next to your other gear.
With that in mind you might prefer the much lighter Spyderco Military.

Or, for roughly the weight of the 110 or ZT, this is a versatile combination:
- a carefully chosen swiss army knife with exactly the features you need.
- a Fallkniven F1 fixed blade

I probably shouldn't mention this because I have never used one but I think this is your best bet.

Like I said, I have never used one of these and they cost a bomb but you should check it out.

buck 110. thats it end of search!

My first big folder that I bought for army use/wear was a 110 I got at the Ft. Bragg PX back in the early 70's. I gave it to my son which he still has. The PX at Ft. Lewis has them for 36 dollars and I head WalMart has them a bit cheaper. The Ft. Lewis PX and the McChord BX carry a large amount of knives to suit different needs - perusing the different makers and on-line knife stores is good too, and a lot give military discounts. Be sure to ask every place you shop. Most commanders don't pay any attention to 110's but when you show up looking like John Rambo, you have a problem. :D

Good point; the same goes for law enforcement officers also. The Buck 110 has become such a standard that no one really gets upset at the sight of one. I carry one when I ride my motorcycle for much the same reason.

Same goes for SAK's and Opinels.
