i am looking to get a Busse some time in the near future. i am not new to collecting but i 've never really researched Busses all that much. i know alot of you guys are into busses and i'm astounded at how many some of you have lol. so since i don't have the funds to collect as many as i would like to, whats a good "standard" Busse? i'd like something mid to large size. grind isn't a huge factor for me but i'd prefer full flat. the most important question ,where is the best place to get one..directly from busse or on the secondary market? any information or recommendations will be much appreciated. thanks guys! sorry if this has been asked before.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. And how beefy or skinny you want your blade to be. But like Sufler said the skinny ash is a nice knife about 3/16's i believe. Just depends on what your using it for. Busse's are great knives and the warrenty is second to none. Head over to Busse's exchange you'll find your grail there.

The Skinny ASH-1 fits right in (due to the grind as well). Balance, comfort, and control are exceptional on the Skinny. 3/16" is correct. If for whatever reason you're concerned about the thickness of that particular Busse, there's a destruction video of this knife on YouTube... so, you can see how much it can take.

Other choices are the Sj Tac, Ba Tac, and Tankbuster - all of which I've also considered before making my decision (all in the same price range) and acquiring the Skinny ASH-1; my only Busse.

I wanted to get a large one for a first, so I went with a NMFBM. If you're going to try a Busse, why not try a whole lotta busse?

Id get one directly from Busse so you don't have to pay the markup on the secondary market. Busse has the Bushwacker Mistress and BOSS street now at a good price. I'd get one of them while they are at the factory prices.

Battle Mistress for first Busse? Sure, I guess, if you want it to be left behind. Strongly recommend a belt carry size piece first before going any bigger. Belt size carry will see most use, you'll figure out if Busse's work for you... and, you go from there - not everyone is into coatings and a whole chunk 'o steel.

You could go with an SFNO or a NMSFNO or an CGASH or a FSH of some type. There are quite a few Busse's to choose from. You can go to the Busse Collector Website or Hogcult. Plenty of pics and specs. there. Good luck on your hunt.

i like the size and overall heft of the bushwacker mistress but i would like a thicker knife if its that long. although, as stated before, something like a boss street would be cheaper and used more. the ash-1 is nice but i could get a new mistress for the price i've seen some ash-1's going for. gonna look at the boss street sum more...any other suggestions.

I personally want a warden and a tank buster... but too much money for me at the moment..

I'm confused. So, what are you looking at? You're not gonna get the mistress because it's too thin, but you're not gonna get the Skinny (I just showed you one for $350 off the Busse exchange right on BF) 'cause you can get the mistress at the same price?

I guess we should start of with what your Busse budget is. Second: What the heck are you gonna use it for? ;)

I'm not sure what a "standard" Busse means.

Best place to buy depends on how much money you wish to spend, how fast you want it and how available the knife is.

If you want a mid-sized Busse at a direct cost, I suggest you wait until Jerry releases the next one on their web site. He has already said he will be releasing a mid-sized knife (to go along with the BWM and Boss Street on there now).

Like i asked earlier what are your intended purposes for the Busse knife your wanting? And also what is your budget for said knife?
Once this is decided upon it will help narrow your search down to certain models.

ANY Busse knife is a good first Busse knife!

My first Busse was a green on green Game Warden.

A good first Busse would be a small to medium sized EDC knife, but it does depend on what you plan on using it for. Id go with the BOSS Street since ists a nice sized blade and you can get it for factory prices directly from Busse. There might be a new knife out soon, but you never know about Busse.

well...i think you need a mistress...the bushwhacker mistress is avaliable from the shop right now...i have one on the way...i would try to get one at factory prices while they are avaliable...good luck in your hunt!

+1 on that dinozzo - my 1st Busse is being made now, "bushwhacker mistress," thinner than some and plenty of blade length at a great price for a Busse. :D

My .02 cents are that you really can't go wrong, with the possible exception of the TAC handles which seem to be a love 'em or hate 'em deal. I couldn't come to peace with mine.

well, what i'm saying is that if i'm gonna get a large knife such as the mistress i'd rather go all out and get one with a nice thick(er) blade. i never said i didn't want a mistress. i'm just saying that for the same price of the Skinny i can get a mistress that's all...more knife for my money. as far as price is concerned im looking to spend under $400 if possible. i think i will wait and see what busse turns out next and order it directly from them. i've narrowed down the size to larger than an ash-1 and smaller than a bushwacker. i'm planning on using it as a camping knife...batoning, chopping, and the like. all of the larger busses seem to excel at that so i'm not gonna rule out the mistress quite yet. so basically i'm looking at either a mistress or slightly smaller; under or about $400.
