I am in the market for a small fixed blade with around a four inch blade. I like the looks of the TAK I, but not so much the price tag. I also like the looks of Bark Rivers offering, but once again a litte out of my price range. Any suggestions? I plan on getting a Mora #S-1, but I want something a little more durable/sturdy (but will still cut well) for a camp knife. Thanks.

I think that you can not beat the TAK 1. The knife came with a very good edge,I have had mine for three years with no problems. I would say that my hands are large and it is more comfortable than my freinds B.R.

Bucks have been proven for generations. The USA models are absolutely a superior value in this price range. Treat them like a knife and you cannot be disappointed. They will still last for generations. Regards, ss.

You may want to look at the Scrapyard Yard Keeper.

They were selling an LE model at the blade show but should have a regular coated version available soon.

It should be nearly indestructable and if past pricing holds up it should retail in the $60's.

 for Buck knives. You can go to their site and find one to your liking, then find an online dealer at 60% of the retail cost.

check out the Mora 2000. More sturdy than most of the other Moras, and priced cheap (for what you get) at around $30. If you don't plan on severely abusing your knife, this will do fine.

Also, consider the Fallkniven F1. It's $83 at Knifeworks, and that's for the laminated 420J/VG10 steel. A little out of your price range, but it is A LOT of knife for the $. You will not be sorry you spent extra, if you get one.

Queen premium hunter in d2 or sog fieldpup! Both good knives for the money,But I really like the queen!

I haven't seen any mention of the Cold Steel bushman. It cost under $20 and if you watch knifetest.com you can tell that the bushman is one tough SOB. If you ever get around to breaking it, well $20 well spent!
