Good fixed blade for camp food prep?

I would try an Opinel #10 or #12. Light weight, plus you won't break the bank if they don't work for you.

I tried both the Mora Craftline Allround and the 2010 Forest for outdoor cooking. Both worked reasonably well, but none was as nice to use as the Spyderco Moran. The flat ground blade shape simply works better for food prep.

Mora would be good, .... easy to re-sharpen, & value cost.

Just keep the carbon versions wiped w/ mineral oil to keep rust at bay.

If it's a cheaper kitchen knife you want, maybe check out the Old Hickory lineup. They are 1095 carbon steel, and once you put an edge on them, they aren't bad kitchen knives. Maybe the 7" Butcher, or a smaller field knife. Knife center carries the entire line.

Both excellent suggestions. I swear by the Old Hickory lineup.

Seems just about any small knife would work. Maybe make a sheath for a paring knife you already have in your kitchen.
