Good fixed blade knife?

I was looking at getting a good fixed blade, the only one i have now is my glock field knife(hell of a knife). Here's the needs it has to fill, pry bar, has to keep an edge and be sharp, 6-7 inch blade, in the 400$ range or less, and could pull duty as a fighter if necessary. I was thinking TOPS, Strider, or MOD. Your thoughts? This is my first post here and I am testing you cutlery knowledge:D . Thank you in advance.

Strider Mark1, or MT, you could go busse, they make good pry bars they have the 1 for sale now that would fit your description and ebay is always sellin a few. Camillus is good Especially the S30V BK7 as was mentioned. CRK project 1 or 2 would do well. Cold Steel Trailmaster and you could get the SanMai and still be easily in your price range, its a little bigger than mentioned but will work as a prybar.

Try a Ka-Bar USMC. It has a strong carbon steel blade, will work as a pry bar in an emergency, holds a good edge and will get pretty sharp if you know what you're doing. The Ka-bar sports a 7 inch clip-point blade, and is designed as a fighter/utility knife. It is only $50, and is a step up from the glock field knife.

If the Ka-Bar isn't for you, then Tops, Strider, or MOD may be the answer. TOPS has a lot of great designs, but many of the knives are made from 1095 steel (the same steel as the Ka-Bar), and are slightly expensive. Strider knives are comparable to a sharpened pry bar; they are strong, and have an edge, but are not aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion), and are very expensive. MOD knives are designed for fighting, and probably work great in that role, but I don't know how well they would fare as prybars.

Some other companies to consider are:
Cold Steel
SOG Knives
Ranger Knives
Chris Reeve Knives
Swamp Rat Knives
Busse Combat Knives

There are some in these forums that consider Busse to be the "Best of the Best" in the production knife category. Keep them in mind if you want an aesthetically pleasing tough-as-nails fighting prybar kind of knife (the new Hell Razor may be exactly what you are looking for).

Good luck in your quest.

I would say to deffinately wait for Swamp rats new line up to come around...it should happen this month....IMO they are top quality when it comes to performance and have an awesome warranty.
www.swamprat.com check it out

Cold Steel Recon Scout...That knife IS a sharpened pry-bar.:).

Is Extrema Ratio any good? I have seen a couple and really like the looks, of this one in particular, the Col Moschin

I haven't bought one of these yet but its the next knife I am going to buy. Everything I have read says that these knives are tough as anything out there and a no questions asked warranty to boot. I would have a hard time using a $300 busse as a pry bar, but a $100 RD7 with the warranty to back me up would be my first choice to abuse.

Hi !
I guess if you do not want to spend much money, the BK&T CU7 is the way to go...
Other than that, you can also purchase in few weeks the new Camp Tramp from SRKT which will be even stronger...
If you want an flawless fits & finish with really "top premium" performance, i guess Chris Reeve knives are hard to beat... A Project I or II will be enough to struggle with everythings reasonnable (and even unreasonnable...)...
But if you want a "bank vault" waranty, SRKW, Busse and HI are the way to go...

Busse, SR, and Ranger all have the same life warrenty no questions asked. And I would trust all as prybars any way

Ranger rd6 or rd7 will work.Justin is a great guy, I just had an Rd made with a 5in. blade and got it in less than 2weeks. He also gives a no question warranty. You wont be disappointed........
